"No, no, no. This deck chair goes over by that hatch, and THIS deck chair goes next to the rail. And hurry up - we've got dozens more to rearrange and the water is still rising!"

Not a big deal. Fiege has a lot more important things to worry about than the comics. The Quesada age of Marvel comics will continue to wheeze and gasp into its third decade.

What are you talking about? Marvel Studios is a successful multibillion dollar empire. Unless you are suggesting that Marvel Comics is the Titanic? Marvel Comics is more the afterthought in a battle over control over the rest of Marvel media.

As much as I enjoy the MCU, this is probably not so good news for us readers.

Let's hope that editorial isn't all: "how does this storyline tie in with the movies?"

On the bright side - maybe the movies will now advertise the comics more....who knows....

Yeah, the Titanic metaphor really doesn't work when Marvel is probably the most profitable entertainment company in the world.

And if we're talking about just the comics, then the move of putting precisely the man responsible of making the company that successful in charge of the comics as well is hardly comparable to a re-arranging of the chairs.

Marvel comics (the print division) is a small silver of the Disney Empire

Looks to me that if it has Marvel name on it Feige has it under his office now television movies comics cartoons young adult books

They seem to have just rearranged a bunch of titles and who's reporting to who its not like Feige is gonna be sitting in meetings deciding The Avengers line up and yes like many have stated its probably just to make the comics to get more in step w the movies .... branding synergy etc

I hate to be a pessimist but I was hoping that CB Cebulski was going to be the person to right the Marvel Comics ship so I'm kind of "meh" over this.

Feige taking over probably doesn't mean John Byrne, Walt Simonson, Roger Stern, Chris Claremont and other creators who make comics that I enjoy return to the fold (I realize some talents are not interested in regular work).

Since Disney consumed Marvel there has been a general assumption that the comics would soon be phased out. They serve no real function within the House of Mouse, after all, and Disney does not have much of a history of print publishing.

This could be the first step in ending Marvel Comics.

If Disney is taking over the comics, I'd like to see Carl Barks on The FF, please.

I think this is an excellent idea - Feige has proven to better evoke the Marvel
Universe than the print stories for me. The MCU feels modern, yet the take on
the characters feels like the best of 1980s Marvel.

Now that the 20th Century Fox acquisition is complete, I've been hoping that
Feige would look to JB's iconic work when developing the stories and tone for
Fantastic Four and X-Men movies. Now that he is handling the books, I hope
he turns to people like JB to work on current titles. I think we have a good idea
of what that would look like on the X-MEN: ELSEWHEN series, now playing at
your local JBF Fan Fiction Forum.

I don't know if there was much difference between what was being published in comics and what stories were making it to the screen, but perhaps this will be the way they ensure more consistency between the two mediums. Admittedly, this change seems like overkill to add more consistency between the screen stories and the printed stories for the Marvel Universe.

As I recall, Jim Starlin said he had great experiences with the Marvel Films team, but was also so turned off by recent experience with the current comics editorial staff that he didn't want to do any work for them BUT would be happy to continue to work with the Films team.
