Their share of accountability has been long awaiting.

Wow. Petition denied, without comment. That's quite a slam against the gun industry. Pretty much the worst outcome for them possible, at least in re this case. Next up:  New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. City of New York, New York, to be argued on 12/2.

The extreme rights people will say activist liberal judges are forcing something which gets them more hopped-up to support anything that promises to put the 'right' judges in, like Trump has been stacking various decks with for over three years now. It's a strange one issue to vote on but obviously they are out there. If it's not freedom to have the AR-15s it's a hypothetical evil young woman's fetus that might be 'saved'. Most things that have to be forced tend to be the most transient. One swing this way leads to a resultant swing that way. How much effort goes into communicating with people the dangers of having excess numbers of weaponry around just to them and their own loved ones compared to stoking fears of straw men criminals and foreign invaders?

I'm only guessing, but I would imagine that this Supreme Court is going to allow a lot of "controversial" cases to come before it if only to slam the coffin lid shut on them for all time. Can we sue gun manufacturers for the damage their products cause...? Our paying constituents in the gun lobby say... NO! You cannot. Case closed. Next?

I think Brian nailed it on the head - I don't think this is good news for gun control advocates.  There is simply NO way Justices Thomas and Gorsuch would have let this get by them without objection or taking some note of the case, unless their ultimate goal is to have the case fully adjudicated in the lower courts and then make it's way BACK to the Supremes on appeal - where they can then, as Brian said, slam the coffin lid shut on the broader question of whether or not gun manufacturers can be sued.

The Supreme Court's denial of the petition to hear the appeal allows the case to proceed. Doesn't mean, of course, that the plaintiffs will win, or if they win how much they will win, or if they win whether their lower court victory won't be reversed on appeal, or if they are affirmed on appeal whether the amount of their damages won't be lowered from the trial to the appellate court, etc.

But -- the case can continue. And that alone chills the gun industry to the bone. The gun industry is big business. Forbes (2018) reported it totaled nearly $30 billion. But if lawsuits can be brought, even when they fail, they can be quite costly. Of course, the litigation itself has a considerable price tag. But even more because of the discovery trial process, plaintiffs can now have access to internal industry documents that could "out" how nefarious the gun industry may actually have been in their marketing strategies, etc.
