There's a game I play sometimes... and I guess it's a mean one, although I try to be nice about it and sometimes learn something.

When I have someone serving me at a restaurant, or at a counter, I'll ask, "Oh, what a pretty name! What does that mean? What's it's origin?"

Lori and Thelonius are kinda interesting. But others... they have no idea. They use it proudly as a sign of their individualism, showing their independence - but have no idea what they're actually being called. So... right.

Do I understand you correctly, that you believe anyone who has a name is
showing their independence? If so, what do you mean? Prisoners have names,
exploited people have names, people locked in basements have names, how
are they proudly showing their independence? I may be misunderstanding you
or not getting a joke so apologies if so.

I once worked with a chap who had a son called Levi, but
it was something like this...Leayvie! He had a signed
picture drawn by the kid on top of his computer, all
those unnecessary letters made my head hurt!
