Cremation over burial

Always my choice.

My grandfather did it, so did my father - and as will I.

I have long made my wishes known to loved ones that I want to be cremated.

I'm definitely riding the fire into the after world. I've told my family to take my ashes someplace special and sprinkle them about so they have a place to "visit" me that they will enjoy or that brings back fond memories.

i, on the other hand, want any part of me that can be reused, to be reused. and with whatever is left to be donated to any medical school - i'm prime property: i was diagnosed with 3 brain tumors and only (the large) one was removed, there's 2 still in me for those 'budding' young neurosurgeons to hone their skills.

edited to add: no cremation or burial for me - after the medical community is done with me ... a garbage disposal is fine ... or whatever it is they do.

I’m all in on cremation. My mother-in-law is just beside herself every
time this is brought up and tries to talk me out of it.

Brian, in all seriousness, get a legal document written up expressing your desire to be cremated.  A friend on mine's father wrote in his will that is he wasn't cremated, his entire estate would be given to charity.  One of his daughters was absolutely adamant about not cremating him (highly religious) and was more than willing to not get any of his money to have him "properly buried". The other 3 children, including my friend, put a stop to that when they told her that the charity would be Planned Parenthood...

Thankfully I have no such family drama to contend with.  My wife and our best friends know what my wishes are and I have all the required paperwork, just in case it's left up to my friends.  Being an only child (as is my wife) and having no children means I had to go this route.  And my wife's wishes are exactly the same as mine.

I’d like to have my corpse fed to animals.

You can accomplish something close to that, Bill, by donating your remains to a forensic body farm.

(It’s actually what I have in my will. Just regret I won’t be there to see it.)

I have left instructions to scatter my remains throughout NYC. Just not cremated....

Seriously though, the funeral home industry has made death into a staggering source of debt for mourning families. Cremate me or donate my parts and have a party.

I once again recommend everyone read THE AMERICAN WAY OF DEATH by Jessica Mitford. Eye opening.
