I wish no harm to anyone but Natural Selection continues.
I actually wished his plan had gone thru to fruition. Then he could have seen for himself that the "Flat Earthers" are a sham. Who am I kidding, he probably would have called out conspiracy, that there was a miles long matte painting showing the curvature of the Earth for his benefit.

Sounds like he wasn't short of courage and was willing to test his idea so I have to respect that.

At the very least, don't these people ever take a ride in an airplane?? He seriously had to launch himself on a homemade rocket to test his theory?

The most sensitive way I can put this is, is that it is sad his beliefs and life choices led him to such a rash and ill-conceived endeavor.
He was spectacularly lucky to have survived the last attempt he made. This wasn't Bad Luck, it was the likely outcome. Even if everything had worked exactly as he had hoped (i.e, parachute coming out last rather than first), it still had a good chance to kill him.
And you know Science Channel put a bunch of GoPro cameras on his "vehicle" in furtherance of their support of such nonsense. I wonder if they're going to air it anyway I think of the line from Million Ways To Die in the West: "They're still gonna use the ice."

Paul, if a person genuinely believes he can fly and to prove it he leaps off a skyscraper to test his belief, it would be hard for me to respect his delusions.

I'm not married to this statement so much, but what made me say it was that in my experience, people with strong religious/non-scientific opinions often don't seem to care to test their theories or be wiling to reconsider them if that test proves them wrong so I was a little impressed that this gentlemen may have some strange ideas but at least he was apparently willing to test them and reconsider his position based on that. Sorry he didn't survive the process.

Well, he didn't ultimately prove the Earth was flat but he did prove it was hard...
