Big step - that’s fully closing. No drive through, nothing.
After the crazy scenes @ our local supermarkets over the last few
days, coupled with (it seems) every idiot going to the beach because
the sun is out, I think we are heading to draconian measures being
implemented on Tuesday after the vote is passed today.

Took England long enough. And this coming from a country who still can't keep spring breakers off of beaches or those at the epicenter (Seattle) from celebrating the start of spring. Link Fucking selfish idiots.

Meanwhile, China is getting back to normal. Most of the new cases are coming in with foreigners so they have imposed a mandatory 14-day quarantine. Before you could take it at your house but now it is at a special hotel and you have to pay for it. I know a few people who just made it back before this took effect.
I was out today and besides everyone in masks, it is looking pretty good. Starbucks still has very few chairs and still not the number of people on the streets as before but it is getting better. Then again, you didn't get idiots having picnics.

Over here, we've got 626 confirmed cases, with most of them in the areas surrounding the capital. The real number is probably 20 times bigger.
Borders are closed to all but Finnish citizens arriving from abroad, with a mandatory 2-week quarantine for arrivals. My mother and his BF are coming home on Wednesday, probably in the nick of time.
No curfew in effect yet, but public buildings are closed (although daycares and elementary schools are opening again for grades 1-3, presumably to make life easier for people who can't work from home. Going to school is strongly discouraged.)
Public gatherings of over 10 people are forbidden, although bars, restaurants and nightclubs can stay open. This is weird, and has led to mass infections at ski resorts and such. Finns love to drink together, especially at times when it's absolutely not a good idea to do so. The government is preparing to order closures, and it's about time.
People are strongly encouraged to isolate themselves, but this has led to a wave of people "retreating" to the countryside, where medical services are already stretched pretty thin (outside of Helsinki, Finland is a pretty sparsely populated country.) The government has spoken out against this, and are today discussing travel restrictions between counties.
I for one have stayed at home for three weeks, aside from a couple of trips to buy food. It's easy when you're unemployed. Stay healthy, JBFers!

These people actually do deserve shooting for their selfishness and attitude towards this whole crisis.

I returned to work on Sunday after a week`s holiday. I
was shocked at how empty our warehouse and cold room
were. We had a big delivery for a Sunday (bear in mind
we are open only 6 hours) it all went straight on the
shelves, nothing returned to coldroom.
My usual routine of making sure date rotation and
stock control is out the window, as there`s nothing in
danger of going out of date, it`s going straight out
the door!
But people are still treating shopping as a leisure
activity, bringing the kids and milling about buying
non-esentials!
All special offers are cancelled, easter is
effectively cancelled, no easter food to order
speciality products, we binned the catalogues
yesterday.
Staff from other stores that have closed their coffee
shops are being sent to other stores to help fill
shelves etc.
One annoying thing from today...a bin man told my wife
that he has never seen so much bread thrown away! So
all that panic buying is leading to morons throwing
out food. Sometimes i despair at humans!
As previously said, we had more people climbing
snowdon yesterday, than for years, idiots out playing
football, lycra clad cycle wankers out in large
groups, you really couldnt make it up!

Had to take a quick trip to the art supply store yesterday. Turns out the last time I picked up some bristol pads, the one on the bottom had the wrong tooth. Couldn’t wait for my order from Amazon. Anyway, swung thru the McDonalds drive thru on the way home. Ate in the parking lot. A very collegiate experience. (Further proof that the world is overstocked with idiots: the drive-thru had two lanes, which converged. A woman in the right lane tried to cut in front of me, tho she had placed her order after mine.)

Made my weekly grocery store run yesterday morning. Everything on my list was readily available barring one item- beans. All the beans were gone, and I'm not talking about canned beans. All varieties just gone.
I'm still not in any need of it but all the TP was also gone, just empty boxes on a pallet. People seemed to be hovering waiting for them to bring out a new pallet. Probably the same people that already have a gross of it. Can't win at life, might as well win at TP!

The Province of Ontario in Canada just announced that all non essential businesses will be order closed tomorrow for two weeks. The exact list of essential businesses will be released tomorrow, but it will likely be just grocery stores, pharmacies, and gas stations.
Quebec has announced a similar order, but lasting three weeks.
