People are selfish and stupid. Let them all out to mix and mingle. The self-cleaning oven.

And once again, Trump, when asked directly, chose to say he sympathises with them rather than saying they are in the wrong. Knowing this will embolden them in their stupidity, but gain him support from the lack of frontal lobe brigade.
Charletsville all over again

People are selfish and stupid. Let them all out to mix and mingle. The self-cleaning oven. --------------------------------- But one unfortunate corollary of this is hell for health workers and a huge risk from anyone needing medical attention of any kind. Also, not a sound choice when we have the virus restricted to very small portion of the population.

Have you seen the massive lines of cars at food banks? 22 million people are newly unemployed. Not knowing how you're going to feed your family or pay your rent/mortgage in this situation isn't selfish. People are scared. Removing all restrictions isn't the answer. But unless someone comes up with an answer, and fast, this civil unrest is only going to intensify. Unemployed young men, in particular, are not going to voluntarily remain in their homes without food for very long. We're cruising toward Weimar Germany level unemployment. No democracy in history has ever survived that.

The US and UK Governments have mishandled this crisis from Day One.
Trump and Johnson are both culpable in this, and their arrogance and dismissive attitudes have only fueled this.

This is what I've been telling people who are suggesting a 'lockdown' of 12 months or more.
Anyone who thinks people are going to happily bunker down in their homes for anything close to a year is in for a rude awakening. We will be lucky if patience holds up for even half of that.
The protests we are starting to see are only the tip of the iceberg. This goes on too long and we'll see a civil unrest like nothing we've seen before, and it won't just be Trump-supporting Right-Winger's.
Selfishness it may be, but we would do well to remember that selfishness is a human trait and not just a Republican or Conservative one.
When the weeks turn into months and the anger and frustration reach a boiling point, people are going to stop caring about the risks involved.
I'm not saying it's right, but the writing is on the wall.

The government needs to start paying people in full to stay home if they can't work. It was stated at the beginning that money would not be a problem, since they can just print it. My company could only pay people two weeks of "Covid Time", based on the package the government released. Two weeks has been burned off by most of our employees already. Unemployment pay does not cover the rent in the SF Bay Area. The stimulus check doesn't either. If we want people to stay home make sure they can still live.
Also, the government does not help anyone if they can't put up a united front. Too many politician spouting conspiracy nonsense or keeping with the party line. Our Supreme Leader posted on Twitter this morning (along with other garbage that doesn't help): "Liberate Minnesota" "Liberate Michigan" "Liberate Virginia, and save your great 2nd amendment. It's under siege" What does this mean? Riot to make sure you can go back to work? Crazy.

What’s the 2nd amendment got to do with this? Is he telling people to take up arms over this?
Is that where he wants this to go?

Invoking the Second Amendment is a sure way to get a rise out of the knuckle draggers. They's too dim to be able to tell one cause from another.

I'm all for natural selection, but opening up areas too early puts people at risk who are not choosing to be out, especially paycheck to paycheck workers who rely on these jobs. People who work at Buffalo Wild Wings should not die over buffalo wings - we should all agree that is not OK to make them be there for something so unessential. I admit I have said that their wings are to die for, but I did not mean it literally!
