The Miller family is all home under quarantine. Our youngest was positive. We tested her because she was around a kid who was tested then went to school for three days while awaiting results. Then she turned out to be positive and all the kids around her, including our kid, we’re positive. The other three of us are all awaiting our test results under quarantine.

Brian, I’m sorry the hear your family is dealing with the stupidity of others. Any thoughts about the future of your daughter’s relationship with the girl who spread it? Here in Canada, my daughter’s entire class was quarantined for a week because one child tested positive, but it is mandatory that suspected cases must quarantine while test results are pending. My daughter was negative along with all the other children because the infected child stayed home.

They’re 6th graders. My kid doesn’t care.
And in all honesty, there’s nothing to blame the kid for. Her parents are the ones who sent her to school. That’s who we’re angry with.
What sucks is the day we were tested was my first day in my promoted position at work. Now I have to spend the next 2-3 weeks in my new position in quarantine.

All the best to you, Brian... while it hasn't hit any of my immediate family yet, it creeps: My mother-in-law's 80-year old next-door-neighbor (who she's known for close to 50 years) passed away from Covid earlier this week, after initially being treated for a UTI. And we know of someone else whose teen daughter came down with it as well (though seems to be doing okay--no hospital yet).
Very scary.

We're fine, Shaun. Thanks for asking. Our daughter that was actually positive finished her quarantine over the weekend and went back to school yesterday. Her sister is still under quarantine thru Thursday and will go back Friday. My wife went back to work yesterday and I'm still in quarantine until the 30th. Since my wife works in home health, she's considered essential so her company only had her do a 10-day along with our positive case. I'm considered essential, but my company adheres to the CDC guideline and I have to serve the full 24 days. Not easy starting a brand new supervisory position when you're confined to home and the only thing you have to do anything with is your iPhone. But my boss is very understanding.

The final analysis of Moderna's vaccine were out today as well, and they add weight to the already-promising interim analysis. Moderna's vaccine is much easier to store than the Pfizer one, but it's more expensive. Both are much more expensive than Astrazeneca's vaccine, though have shown better results. Astrazeneca's one is the easiest to store, costs the least but there are several quirks to the way they conducted their trial (of which we are yet to see final results, only interim analysis).

(and I should clarify, I'm referring to phase 3 trials for all the above).
