One of my favorite JB tales!!! It’s incredibly fun — and incredibly emotional. I just love it. It’s a JB masterpiece.

I feel very fortunate to own this original (unpublished) poster art — created before JB actually began the series (if I’m remembering correctly)...

I recall seeing that artwork. Probably in the old COMIC
SHOP NEWS accompanying an article about the then upcoming
series.

That was an example of what I came to recognize as DC’s pathologically poor scheduling. They wanted that promotional poster before so much as a single line of G1 had been drawn. So I did the best I could to make something solid from what were then barely more than nebulous forms in my head.

Couldn't get more than half way through that review. Brevity is the soul of wit, reviewer.

Generations 2 was a fun expansion, but I do prefer the first one (never read no.3, sorry!). Really enjoyed the way it all fit together throughout all the different eras (and I wince every time I read it at the Joker's horrible deathtrap for the Dick-Grayson-Batman).

About time I went back and read them again!

Great googly-moogly, I would have bought the HELL out of that poster!!! That is as beautiful an amalgamation as I have ever seen. I wish that could at least have been in one of the collections. Maybe if DC ever puts together Generations 3 as a TPB... maybe when monkeys fly out my butt. I can't tell which will come first. But Mr. Byrne, this is so epic.

All of the Generations were good, but I like Generations 3 the best. I really liked how the story hopped around, but I think the art is some of the best John has ever done. I think the inking is a little bolder and it seems to appeal to me for some reason.

That's a series I've considered having hardbound since a TPB seems unlikely.

I was very happy with the art on G3, but I felt the story was lacking. It was DC‘s idea to go forward in time. I think the Powers That Were didn’t realize how few familiar touch points there really were between the 20th and 30th centuries.

I, personally, would have loved a G4.

I just felt like there was sooooo much more to tell in that universe

Using the “touch points” is the incredibly smart concept that makes Generations a super fun idea. Then it comes down execution of the concept... and JB did it in such a masterful way.

I agree with JB — Generations 3 feels lacking because it makes lesser use of the original concept.

I enjoyed reading (and rereading) all three, but the first is my favorite.

Killer piece Nathan, I have never seen that beauty, thanks for sharing.

I am guessing it is quite a bit larger than the regular 11x17 comic art, I was wondering what is it's approximate dimensions?

There's one good thing about DC making me go forward, instead of setting G3 between chapters, as I did with G2. It kept me from doing my "dark" version of Captain Marvel, which I now think would have been a mistake, even in an imaginary story.
