I only skimmed the review because I just ate, and I wanted to keep everything stable.
All I have to say is - I wish I had such piercing insight to know about EVERY imaginary story/What If/Elseworlds* story and concept and exactly how every alternate story MUST go.**
But I don't have that type of Buddhic comprehension, so I read imaginary stories*** and enjoy different writers' ideas. Mr. Byrne took one imaginary element (Superman and Batman age in real time) and logically extrapolated ONE possible future. It happens he made it tremendously exciting and beautiful in its execution. But it was also done in several Superman stories in the 60s, where the Man of Steel ages, marries, has children, and then time continues to show results.
Now that everyone has free access to post what they will, any type of silliness can hit the airwaves (as such.) Everyone is entitled to their own damn silly opinions... me included, naturally.
*Oops, I associated Elseworlds with an imaginary story. Shame on me... **Example: "The Death of Superman" posits Superman's death at the hands of Lex Luthor by green Kryptonite. Alternative 1 - knowing that Superman MUST survie, the Legion of Super Heroes returns in time and manages to revive him. Alternative 2 - Supergirl uses a piece of red K that transfers life force from one Kryptonian to another, and Superman lives while Supergirl dies. Alternative 3 - Supergirl, having lost her cousin in addition to her home city, snaps, and becomes a murderous vigilante, killing Luthor, destroying Brainiac, and mercilessly avenging her cousin with a death sentence for EVERY crime. ***Imaginary stories with IMAGINARY characters, mind you... so their futures are extrapolations ANYHOW. Sheesh...
