Has anyone read the articles about this, like the one in the New York Post that this virus might have leaked from a lab?  Nature Magazine had an article refuting this, then a site called zerohedge.com tried to debunk Nature's article.  I haven't had time to follow all of this.  Just curious about your thoughts if anyone's read about it.

Of course every time something big happens there's a conspiracy attached to it.  This time it's that this virus is a communist bio weapon meant to work as a superstructure to destroy the economy.  Part of a hybrid war on the Occident that was supposedly released during the World Military Games in Wuhan last year.  It sounds like the plot of a science fiction movie.

You can search and search until you can connect everything and anything.  It usually centers on the idea that any government interference in our lives, such as ordering lock downs, forcing people to stay home with the threat of a fine, is totalitarian.

And look up the interesting coincidence in Dean Koontz's 1981 novel The Eyes of Darkness.

I haven't seen the articles but I think we can make some fair assumptions before reading. Nature (if we are talking about the same magazine) is a highly respected scientific, peer-reviewed journal while the New York Post is a newspaper without a dedicated science desk with a reporter knowledgeable about scientific topics (as far as I can tell). In this case it's a more than safe bet that Nature is the more accurate source and, generally, if Nature publishes it you can assume it is a high quality article.

If you are ever wondering about the accuracy and bias of a news source Media Bias/Fact Check is a really good resource.

No. Because it is not designed in a useful way. And who benefits?

And the author would have an antidote.

If you wanted a designed illness you need to think why, what, who, when, where and how.

None of those can be answered by COVID

The are so many illogical leaps to consider Covid-19 a “weaponized” or
man made virus that anyone doing so should make one more leap off a
cliff.

They keep bring up the Dean Koontz novel as some sort of prophecy. I have to say that we are in enough trouble without bringing up theories and conspiracies that make "The X-Files" seem realistic.

Given the number of times the “Byrne Curse” has seen me drawing/writing something that subsequently proved “prophetic”, I suppose I should be flipping thru back issues looking for some story in which I presented a plague scenario. After all, I’d like to be seen as a modern day Nostradamus, too!

(ie, having made a whole bunch of unrelated guesses which later were seen as “predictions”.)

The Koontz thing isn't really much of a spooky coincidence. He wrote about a virus created by the Soviets called Gorki-400 that affects the brain and has a 100% mortality rate. So far, so nothing like the pandemic.

When the Iron Curtain fell, this was substituted in later editions to being created by the Chinese in the technology-geared city of Wuhan. And now we have the loosest of coincidences.

We might as well leverage the movie Tangled for its prophetic coincidence about this virus. Is there no limit to man's stupidity? I think Peter debunks Koontz as a prophet very well.

As i understand it, if it was artificial, other scientists could see it. All the evidence proves so far that it is natural.
