OK, I've started on the first hardback. As I said, I did buy a lot of these issues as they came out but my memory is flakey on them at best.

First four issues ("Second Genesis") deal with Darkseid and an attack on Paradise Island. I do vaguely remember these. Unfortunately I'm not a fan of either the Fourth World or Themyscira so I didn't really enjoy these as much as I'd hoped.

Second arc ("Lifelines") was great. Lots of nice cameos from the likes of the Demon and the Phantom Stranger plus the introduction of Cassie who I think goes on to bigger things. Really enjoyed the creation of a nice supporting cast and the usual JB-style layering in of sub-plots for the future.

Really enjoyed the "Level" storyline. This felt like the usual deft crafting of plot that I am used to by JB. Also, felt that the inking was more refined compared to the earlier issues.

Following this a couple of really nice done in one issues featuring Cassie vs Decay (a villain I'd never seen before, presumably not a JB creation?) and one featuring another acquaintance of Donna's vs Doctor Psycho. It really didn't matter that I don't know who half the characters are as JB fills in all the gaps needed.

I've now started the second hardcover. Bit confused at first and could have done with DC inserting a small paragraph about Final Night as I had no idea what all the references were to the Sun Eater and Earth being frozen.

Just finished the second hardcover and really enjoying it. Some of these issues I know I own but either my memory has gone or I just bought them but didn't read them for some reason! Weird. Looking forward to the third book but sad that the 'era' for me will be coming to an end.

Finished the third volume and pretty sure I never even owned these issues so certainly not read them before. I wish I was a bit more versed in DC lore and history as I think I'd gain even more enjoyment from them than I did already. For example, I'm guessing the plot of 'Polly' taken over as WW is a fun way of explaining how there's a Golden Age WW post-Crisis?

Wondering how much of the storylines over the last year or so were mandated or were all from JB's brow. Was he required to tie into Genesis? Presume the links to JKFW were his plan? Was Donna Troy such a mess by now that she needed this story to de-clutter? I only know her from New Teen Titans so I'm guessing she was.

Were JB's supporting cast used well after he left them? I'm thinking primarily of the Sandsmarks and Artemis who I really liked.
