This arrived today (thank you selfless Amazon delivery men).

JB is in there alongside Frank Hampson, Brian Bolland, Ken Reid, Don Lawrence and others. Carlos Ezquerra is includede too, and Jesus Blasco. So I guess people who worked on British Comics, or who were born in the UK, qualify.

Weird to see Rupert and Dredd in the same shot!

If Rupert weren't there I would likely hate that cover; it's somehow making the way over-used Abbey Road photo motif palatable. Someone really should've made Dredd barefooted though. :^D

Mike Noble is my favorite from the British comics (as in published there), I would hope he'd be included. Bolland, Gibbons, and Davis also of course. Very high level company to keep!

For those of us not too knowledgable about British comics, who are the other two characters on the cover?

And an alien from the newspaper strip Jeff Hawke further down the road.

This is a great looking book ; Comicon had a brief preview article on this around a month ago, which has quite a range of the internal pages ( and includes comment on the Bolland cover, which they observe is not the straight 'art over photo' piece you might initially think .... )

Rupert is the only one on Abby Road who isn't armed with a weapon!

…masters-of-british -comic-art-is-exactly-what-it-says-in-the-title/

••

Except it isn't, if I'm in it.

One could stretch (to breaking) a point and describe me as a British artist (despite my having left England when I was seven), but I have only ever done one job for a British publisher, so I scarcely belong in a book of "British Comic Art".

This has put me in the mood to dig out my Dan Dare comics again.
