I happen to have a VERY broad definition of the term “art”.  So much so that I get into fairly intense discussions on the merits of my stance.

And to be sure the Stone Mountain monument is indeed art.

But its also a monument.  A monument to what exactly? I feel it is a monument to everything this country says (pretends) it stands against.  The monument was literally opened on the anniversary of Lincoln’s assassination.  The 3 men represented on that mountain were the backbone of a movement that literally went to war for the right to continue to enslave other human beings.  It wasn’t put there so citizens can look up to it and recognize just how fucking horrible America treated (treats!) black people.  It was put there to celebrate these men and their supposed gallantry and leadership.   If you know what the truth is about what the Confederacy stood for...you would easily reject the notion that these men should be celebrated in such a manner.

I mean it with all my heart and soul when I say “blow that motherfucker up to pieces so small you’d need a microscope to find them!”

And do it on Juneteenth so that shit sinks in deep.

Ha!  Those who wish to have me banned and silenced are real Americans.  Funny how so many liberals and progressives are so quick to try and take one's inalienable rights.

Our forefathers were not perfect but they set up the best damn country in the history of the world.  I notice no one mentioned the statues and names of Thomas Jefferson and George Washington being torn down.  Everyone's fine with that too?  How long before Lincoln and some of the others are sanitized?

As far as virtual book burning, Amazon and social media platforms have been erasing content.  What would you call that?  They have taken it upon themselves to decide what you read or see.

It baffles me that people here are in favor of mob rule, silencing people, destroying art and history and books...I mean, seriously.  Isn't that exactly what Germany went through?

This country has always looked and tried to better itself.  Our constitution was written in such a way as to allow for things our forefathers could not predict.  We have many amendments through the years that have done just that.  Made progress and looked to find ways to make more.

Forgive me if I don't support those who wish to tarnish and tear apart those ideals.  If social change and equality need further amendments, there is a lawful way and system in place to make those changes.  We have a LONG history of doing just that.

As I said, too many people focus only on the problem and not the solutions.  How much is slavery still used as an indictment against our history when we're the ones that ended it.  It's ridiculous.  Talk about blinders.

So, are there social inequities?  Sure.  But I don't chalk it up to racism nearly as much as classism.  Which will NEVER end.  If the US is so terrible, why do MILLIONS of immigrants risk everything to still come here every year?

No they haven't. They have taken it upon themselves to
decide what THEY will distribute.
They haven't gone hunting down every available copy, in
every possible format of those books.
They have just said 'We are not going to make it
available on out platform.'

Which is their right

Inalienable, one might say.

Statues of Washington...Jefferson...Mount Rushmore...etc?

Leave em’.

They are pillars of American history and patriots.  They were also slave owners and that should be made clear and plain to everyone.

Davis, Jackson and Lee were TRAITORS!  And the fucking Confederacy lasted all of 4 goddamn years!  I have socks that have lasted longer than the Confederacy!  “Heritage, not hate” my ass.

Lincoln was morally opposed to slavery.  He had less that appealing thoughts on racial equality.  Nothing new on that front, eh?

Side note:  For Washington to be “the father of our country”...every Washington I have ever met was black.  LOL!

David,

As myself being a black man, you almost made me choke with that line.

Have you ever thought about a career as a stand-up comedian? LOL

Now I’m thinking of Clark Washington from one of Richard Pryor’s
routines.

They're also talking about getting rid of Uncle Ben and the Cream of Wheat chef.

A decision has been on Uncle Ben's. He's gone.

I haven't  heard anything on Cream of Wheat.
