The Fang costume would look good with his mask.

I loved the Fang costume but I also liked it because it was special. Now, maybe Timberwolf should have worn it, right?I'm fine with the Blue/ Yellow, like the brown, and am fine with the all black look that Big John Buscema used in his stories. I'm also ok with the black leather look during Morrison's run as well as the "return" to yellow and blue. I actually think the Jim Lee blue/ gold may actually be the WORST of them all, OK the noseless ones are the worst but that one isn't better and has all the stupid trappings of that time period.

That's an interesting point JB made about how Wolverine should not be regularly unmasked. It's not like he's movie- star handsome Bruce Wayne under a scary Batman cowl. Wolverine's actual appearance can be more startling than his mask, but not if over-done.

I was an instant fan of the brown costume. I was a very logical kid and I thought the brown made infinitely more sense for a character called “Wolverine”. Plus the yellow and blue color scheme was in danger of making him look like the Michigan Wolverines mascot or something.
I also loved that there was no explanation for the change. When Nightcrawler asks Wolverine, “Why the new costume?”, Logan simply responds, “Why not?” Perfect.
(Reason for edit was font was too small to read).

Better than a six issue miniseries, anyway!

COMING SOON: THE SAGA OF WOLVERINE'S COSTUME, a Mighty Marvel Masterpiece! From the creators of CAPTAIN AMERICA'S SHIELD: HOW GREATNESS WAS FORGED BY ACCIDENT and IRON MAN: A BREAKDOWN OF MODELS I THROUGH IV (WITH ANNOTATIONS).
Seriously... sometimes a guy just needs to change his clothes. Nobody gave the Wasp crap about changing her outfit every other issue of AVENGERS. (Or maybe they did...?)

FWIW, Wolverine is finally back in the JB costume, although I think it's been slightly altered.

All the changes to Wolverine over the years squandered something so easily within reach, in terms of keeping this character consistent and cool.
If he had simply stuck with one change after leaving the Canadian forces and just.........kept it. If he never changed it again -- it would have made him a rock in the changing tides and made his costume a symbol of his dominant personality trait, which is:
He doesn't care.
Changing his costume so much speaks, louder than any dialogue, to establish the "official" Wolverine as, at some level, a kind of costume- obsessed fashionista.

Fang--"Let me kill this alien guy, strip him, wear his weird outfit for the next five years back on Earth." No, even if it was the most beautiful thing (and most of Cockrum's designs were!), that thing's going in the furnace first chance I get!
