I felt Walt's inks overpowered JB's pencils and therefore I wasn't a fan of that combination. Just not to my taste.

Cyclops should probably be considered a different case, since at least some readers approved of what he did.

"I don't if it's ever happened, but now I'm wondering what JB inking Walt
would look like."

JB took a hands-off approach to inking those pencils... totally hands off!

I loved Mike Machlan's inks on WCA.

I liked them too. I’ve long wondered about his stylistic change after the
first few issues, tho. He went from a “softer” line to a very technical,
Austin-esque line. I liked the change, but I preferred the first approach.

JB, to your recollection, have you ever inked Walt?

I really liked Mike Machlan's first few issues. Didn't like the change.

It took me a while to figure out that I didn't really like Chris Claremont's writing but his 16 (!) year run on X-MEN did, at least, have an ending that read like an ending. JB's run on the Superman titles felt the same way. I'm still sad that we'll never see what could have been had JB been allowed to do what he wanted to do -- and was told he could do -- on THE INCREDIBLE HULK.
