Not really new stuff but I got a heavy box in the mail yesterday containing...

New Teen Titans: The Judas Contract Deluxe Hardcover
Doom Patrol by John Byrne Omnibus and
Wonder Woman by Phil Jimenez Omnibus (collecting his entire run).

That should keep me out of trouble for a few days ;)

I think Firepower would be better read in the trade format. It’s a fun book but not much goes on in the two issues released. The first has about 16 pages dedicated to getting prepared for and havIng a garden party. The second is an almost all a silent fight. Nothing wrong with either but the story may play out better in larger chunks.

There was a prequel released as a two hundred page book. It’s was a good read. I was hoping they’d go with the longer format.

On another hand, if any of you are Brubaker/ Phillips fans, I picked up
PULP this week. It shipped last but I couldn’t make it in till this week.
It’s fantastic. These two just get better and better together. While
nothing will ever replace CRIMINAL for me, although THE FADE OUT
and KILL OR BE KILLED certainly tried, this book is as good as it gets.

And with their announcement of multiple original crime graphic novels
coming out over the next year, I’m very excited. Even tho that means
no CRIMINAL or follow-up to TFO.

My LCS didn't get a copy of Pulp so I ordered it from instocktrades, but ordered it with two other books, one of which they said was out of stock and they couldn't get any more (Thor by Jason Aaron Complete Collection Vol 1, have heard a lot of good things and thought I'd give it a go but it's now OOP), so I had to make a substitution and am still waiting on them to ship. The book I substituted was Wonder Woman by JB hardcover vol 1. Have all the singles of his Wonder Woman run but was hoping for an omnibus collection of the whole run but given DC's track record, like downgrading the Man of Steel omnibus to a standard sized hardcover, I figured I'd better just start getting the 3 WW hardcovers which we were lucky enough to get given their equally grating track record of starting runs and not finishing them. Anyway, looking forward to reading Pulp and re-reading JB's Wonder Woman when IST finally ships them.

I was excited about the upcoming original graphic novels by Brubaker and Phillips, but didn't know Criminal was ending again. That's disappointing. I guess the TV work is keeping Brubaker too busy write multiple titles per month like he did in the Marvel days when he was working on Marvel IP and his creator owned stuff at Icon. .

I'm actually enjoying EMPYRE. It doesn't feel like an "Event," just a good story.

Fantastic Four 22
Deadpool 6
Empyre: X-Men 2
Giant-Size X-Men: Fantomex 1

I wonder how Steve Englehart, creator of the Cotati, feels about Empyre.

Hey Shane, check this out:

https://sktchd.com/longform/somethings-happening-here-explor ing-a-
legendary-pairs-reckless-move-with-ed-brubaker/

So the upcoming Brubaker/Phillips OGNs are going to be stand-alone
a, but all featuring the same main character a la Parker or Jack
Ryan. Now I’m even more pumped!
