How do YOU pronounce Shaman? I’ve actually heard the term pronounced in every way you can pronounce the a. I’ve heard Shay- man. I’ve heard Shah-man. And I’ve heard Sha-man (like “at”). Since you created the character, I’m sure you had a particular pronunciation in mind when you named him. What was it?

And the reality of mispronouncing his name for decades punches me square in the face!

There was an old campaign for Charmin Bathroom Tissue, with Mr. Whipple, a supermarket manager, complaining because female shoppers thought Charmin was so soft that it was a delight just to touch it. The tagline was "Please don't squeeze the Charmin!"
I heard that line from pretty much Shaman's first appearance, and every time thereafter. But I never had an issue mispronouncing his name.

Given the seemingly constant infinite variations on the pronunciation of “Byrne” I have endured, I don’t think any of you need to worry too much about Dr. Twoyoungmen’s alter ego!

Bearing in mind your place of origin, I’m assuming Twoyoungmen is pronounced “Smith”.

Heh. Twoyoungmen was the name of the chief of the Sarcee tribe, when I lived in Calgary. It had a more authentic sound to me than Screaming Buffalo or Limping Ox. Incidentally, a fan once asked if the name was intended to indicate that Michael was Gay.

Curiously, I just googled the name and the only results were in reference to Michael and Elizabeth. (Having learned many a painful lesson, I decided not to read those articles!)

I remember 'reading' Sarcee as Sacree for some time.

I came close to making Shaman a member of the Cree nation, but I realized the potential for confusion in a Marvel comic.
