Then we had 8 years of more than a few Republicans thinking that President Obama was foreign born and thus illegally OCCUPYING the office of President of the United States.•• Which did not seem to be an issue for Canadian born Ted Cruz.....

I got it. I finally understand it. I know what's going on...
See, Trump is looking high and low for votes that were invalid, false, etc. He's looking for a shadow of a chance to overturn the election.
And if he sees that shadow, it's four more years of totalitarianism.

Eric,
The thing is, no election, not even elections in the great United States of America are PERFECT and pure as the driven snow. There is always going to be some fraud and there are always going to be some irregularities when counting ballots (e.g., machine error, human error, etc.)
Up until fairly recently (e.g., 2000 and the proverbial "hanging chads") the United States was content to chalk that up to the price of doing business. Alas, no more. Now, it is de rigueur for one side or the other to scream wholesale FRAUD at the top of their collective lungs thus poisoning the entire well. The "well" being our system of governance.
Marc

... and by the way, can anyone explain to me what the United States Senator from South Carolina was doing telephoning the Secretary of State of Georgia to discuss vote counting technicalities while the Secretary was extremely busy counting votes in a highly contested recount?

Sure. It’s called trying to cheat.

In Michigan, President Reject lawyers tried to get ~100K votes tossed in Wayne County.
Where, if I'm not mistaken, it's where a majority of African Americans live.
Talk about some racist antics........
While a deadly virus rampages throughout the country, Reject does nothing but bitch via his fingers. Not bothering to start the transition to the Biden administration.
I would REALLY like to hear from his supporters on this forum defend the shit he's pulling.
High Noon January 20th can't get here soon enough!!!!

I never did understand the 'birther' nonsense with Obama. I took it from the other direction: let's say that Obama was born elsewhere. That technically makes him ineligible, yes, but outside of that, so what? That doesn't affect his character. That told me that if that was all they 'had' on him, then they really had nothing on him.

Apparently being born in Kenya would not have rendered Obama ineligible since his mother was an American citizen.

When a member of the Dutch royal family was born in Canada during the war they had to officially declare some bit of land as being part of Holland to get around some silly regulation they had. I think if Cruz was born on an armed forces base in Canada it might have fallen under the same loophole.
I used to try and tell no-nothing types for Trump how he was, very genuinely, born in Jamaica; a Rush Limbaugh style 'fact' if you omit saying it was Jamaica, Queens, NY.

Hah, I just looked up where he was born. On the service road for the Van Wyck Expressway - one of the most hated highways in New York City (there was a Seinfeld episode dedicated to it). Fitting!
I had wondered why that hospital had a Trump Pavilion whenever I'd pass by!
I'm sure he'd be quick to correct that he grew up in Jamaica ESTATES, not Jamaica itself.

Cruz cannot run for President. He is not eligible, even though his mother is American born. She gave up her rights as a US citizen in order to be able to vote in Canadian elections, Calgary to be exact. She held Canadian citizenship in 1974.
