Cleary, *something* changed, as you now need to sign in to look at all of the forums.

New bizarre update. This has been happening since yesterday evening.
When I try to go via my home internet connection, I see a message saying "The John Byrne Forum is closed. We'll be back open in a few hours."
However, I'm at this moment using my hotspot and... access to the JBF is fine, normal.
Something so very very weird is going on!

There are a few issues the forum is dealing with at them moment. The impact could be general slowness or downtime. Any other issue could be your browser or local set-up reacting to the forum being down at that time.We are working on a permanent solution but in the meantime, please just try back later.

Since we're discussing website errors....
I have been having problems with posting in the forum while using Chrome browser from my Samsung tablet.
When I'm using the mobile browser, I cannot post. Then when I switch to the regular browser, I can post but some of the posts in the topics cannot be viewed.
Weird.

Yes, thank you very much, Jeff.
I can only post this when I use my mobile hotspot. When I use my home internet, I'm still getting that "John Byrne Forum is closed" message -- and now using my phone's data, while I can access the site, I can't post.
It's tough to be exiled by this glitch, but -- again -- thanks for looking into all this.

I wonder if any of it has to do with the bombing in Nashville and AT&T having subsequent issues.

I haven’t been getting the weird errors that some others have been getting, but there were days that the site was inaccessible for hours at a time a week or two before Christmas.

Just keeping Jeff Fettes updated -- this is day five of no access to the JBF, and the "John Byrne Forum is closed" message continuing to appear.

Just a thought, but you may want to run a malware scan in addition to checking your wireless or browser settings. The last time I had forum issues, they went away after I found and deleted a piece of malware in an external drive.
