From the video description: Audio cassette released in 1989 by MPI of "The Man of Steel" Superman mini-series by John Byrne. This is the first issue "From Out of the Green Dawn".

The YouTube channel that hosts this video has all the audio cassettes in this series uploaded as videos, in case you want to listen to every one of them.

I have dim memories of not liking the voice work on this. Think perhaps I will spare myself a listen. . . . . . .

Sounds like the recording studio was pumped full of helium!

I don't think he was available for the recording, Eric. ;-)

Matt H. - Now there ya go with all yer facts and stuff... ;)

However, I do almost always expect Superman to have a deep, low voice; and most of the TV cartoons (save "The New Adventures of Superman") have had what I think of as relatively high voiced actors. This recording was no different.

Cool to hear this, thanks for sharing.
It's way to overdone with the sounds and things but it was fun!
Such great source material, of course!

I loved the Dirk Magg's BBC Radio adaptation of John's Man of Steel. That's really worth tracking down.

JB, when you write Superman, do you have a specific voice in mind for him? A general pitch to it? The actor on the Man Of Steel record seems very genial and benign, though not very commanding.

What do you hear when you read or write him?

I tend to “hear” tone more than specific voices.
