And Marc makes a very good point that many have overlooked:

if Trump's support at the MOST conservative conference in the nation is 55%, what would it be if he was facing an actual primary where the other candidates know his shtick by now? He might not be able to win another nomination.

Not that I think he wants to do that, anyway. He just wants to fleece the suckers as long as they'll give him money for this vaporware comeback of his.

Some online have pointed out that the CPAC stage resembles the Odal rune.

The Odal rune is a Nordic rune that was worn on some Nazi uniforms. Specifically members of the SS's "Racial purity" division.

Oh, and that `golden idol' of Trump, which looks more like a facist Oompa Loompa, is for sale. For $100,000.

The stage shape thing doesn't seem likely that it is a coincidence. And if it isn't a coincidence, it is fucking outrageous.

Everyone, and I'm talking about the media here, is still focused on societal issues and Trump, Trump, and more Trump. The real news is what will be the long-term consequence of COVID on the economy. If in four year's time America and the world is mired in a new Great Depression, the return of Trump, or something like Trump is likely.

When I first looked at it, I didn't quite see it. But then when I flipped it it in my head...oh boy. Once you see it, you really can't unsee it. I agree, it's so elaborate and so matching, that I don't think it could be a coincidence.
And that is horrifying.. :(

And don't even get me started on the whole 'Golden idol' thing. The next time I watch the Ten Commandments movie, it's gonna be a completely different experience!

We think we've come so far in society, and then bwam! Right back in the dark ages again. I used to believe that maybe some day we could realise those more utopian Star Trek like futures. But these last few years have certainly made me feel quite naive there.

It’s astoundingly funny how Christians flock to him yet can’t realize what
has happened to them by doing so.

I don't think right-wing Christians were compromised in particular by supporting Trump. Their behavior has always been motivated by authoritarianism and racial and gender grievance, while whatever "values" they spout is mere cant.

Evangelical Christian who aren't prepared to immediately dispense with compassionate platitudes in exchange for expressing support of boot-heels grinding on the throats of women and people of color are statistically insignificant.

Trump is who they are, and who they've always been.

Someone in our (Canadian) church phrased it wonderfully: “US evangelicals have marred Christianity.”

That Christians see Trump as their savior is no surprise. Their special status in America, as the country's greatest bunch of self-righteous blowhards, has been seized by the Left.

How anyone, with even the slightest knowledge of the bible, &
especially someone who follows the bible, could support Trump is
beyond me.

That golden effigy is straight out of the bible - & not once is one
mentioned in a positive light.

Trump supporters are very skilled at compartmentalizing. Look at those nuns we see in the crowds at his rallies. They should be utterly appalled by him, yet there they are, waving and smiling and cheering. Why? Because he claims to be anti-abortion. That's all they need.

(If only some woman would come forward saying Trump had compelled her to have an abortion! It seems almost impossible to conceive that it has not happened.)
