Shaking my head after reading that list, though I do agree with some but not the order they're in.

Jim B., I was so hoping that you were making that up. But dog damn it if it isn't what's in Marvel's WIKI.
While there, I also checked the Thing, likely my second favorite Marvel hero. WHAT. THE. EVER. LOVIN'. HELL.
Mr. Byrne, NEVER look at that WIKI. You will go murderous. Ask me, ask one of us, and we'll tell what it says. But it is enraging. What Marvel has done in an attempt to be exciting, new, and creative is nauseating.
It seems as if ANYBODY with an original (not necessarily good) gets to work at Marvel as a writer nowadays. No wonder sales are down.

Was Rachel Summers a Byrne creation?

Peter M., I'm pretty sure Rachel S. debuted in X-Men 139, in the future. You know... 2001. :)

#139 is the first part of the Wendigo two-hander, Eric. It's #141 that Rachel first appears in. I know the plot originated with JB, but I also thought that Chris Claremont then added bits (like the Senator Kelly plotpoint), so it's really a question of whether Claremont had any hand in the character's creation.

Kitty now goes by "Kate". She also randomly kissed a girl, apparently confirming her bisexuality that some people were desperate for. (If Kitty isn't bicurious in ELSEWHEN, they'll probably call it bi-erasure.) This is supposed to be making her more mature, but she's coming across like a girl going wild in her freshman year alone at college.
