I can’t WAIT to see/hear someone on screen say ‘Fin Fang Foom’ with a straight face!

As long as he's not wearing purple shorts it's all good.
Doctor Doom is a bigger problem. Great character. Corny name. My guess is that he'll always be "Victor von Doom" or just "Doom."

Fin Fang Foom is uncomfortably close to the singsongy "ching chong" racists trot out. It doesn't bother me in text, but I do a double take when I hear it out loud. I'm fine with just Foom.
Doctor Doom stirs up the MD vs PhD debate that for some reason warranted national conversation recently. And Doom has neither. "Von Doom" is more badass than just plain "Doom".

See...I thought the ‘fix’ for saying Fin Fang Foom was to simply call him ‘Fin Fang’. The “Foom” part is what always made me giggle.
FOOM was an awesome back in the day...but I digress.
Doctor Doom on the other hand...is so iconic that there is no escaping using that name...and meaning it!

I don't see the need to change Doctor Doom. Greatest villain ever. No need to change anything.

I'm fine with just Foom.---------------------------------- I can see that. And, furthermore, I think it's hard to say quickly (my mouth wants to say Fing). I think you could solve both by saying it slowly when the character first appears. Fin... Fang... Foom... And maybe go with Foom from then on.

"Bigger problem" for you, it seems. Doctor Doom is not a "corny" name. It's all kinds of cool.

Ask a civilian what they think of "Doctor Doom," Matt.

Don't really care. And I'll state for the record that I hate calling someone not quite into comic books as I am a "civilian".
At the end of the day, if a "civilian" got over calling a hero Captain America I kinda think there would be no problem with Doctor Doom.

The ‘civilians’ are more ready to accept what you give them...if you give them something you are genuine about and show love and respect to it.

I was under the impression that JB invented the term "civilian."

“Civilian” is a common term in some businesses, in use for decades. Sometimes it’s used in a pejorative manner—“Dumb it down for the civilians”—sometimes simply as a handy description—“Sometimes it can be good to get some civilian input”.I rarely use it in the first sense.
