Several times a day I visit different news sites, and as I do I notice a familiar—and depressing—theme. All across the boards there are predictions of Trump alienating his base, slipping in popularity, becoming increasingly irrelevant.

Has everyone forgotten 2016, and all the preceding predictions that he would not become the Republican candidate, and if somehow he did he would never gain widespread support, and if somehow he did he could not possibly be elected……..?

Report the news, guys, not wishful thinking!

I hear you loud and clear, JB.  Frankly, I think the ONLY thing preventing Trump from being reelected in 2024 right now would be his own choice to not run.

If Trump declares for 2024, I doubt he’ll even need to campaign. Just make sure his name is on the ballot and his red lemmings* will do the rest.

_________

* An inaccurate reference, as we now know, but the metaphor is too deeply entrenched.

I’d fear martyrdom!

Where are the (insert number) women he’s forced to have abortions?

But he can’t be president if he’s a martyr. And his acolytes already revere
him to that level anyway.

No, HE can’t be president if he’s dead—but how about his spawn?

None of them command the masses like Papa T. The closest would be Jr,
but the Republican establishment wouldn’t trip over themselves to ride his
coattails like they did dad. That’s the only real hope DeSantis, Abbott and
others have at this point.

I don’t see him slipping @ all. All I really see is the party refusing to
contemplate anyone else.

But all the arguments he raises against people against him, appear not
to apply to him.
Age? Mental fallibility? Any number of other issues - all things he has
used as weapons against people. Yet all apply to him.

Except they don’t when it comes to him & his supporters.

And with the likely change in rules that will be forced through to
decrease certain demographics from voting, I will never count him out
until he is dead.

If Trump was dead, his spawn would automatically be magnified.

Donald Trump Jr typically polls just behind his father among prospective Republican candidates. Primarily because his name is "Donald Trump" of course, but he's also been working the campaign stump like no one else in his foul, corrupted brood.
