I think this opening sequence to THE THING #1 is so memorable - what a
perfect way to open a series about Ben. It's quiet as he walks through his
childhood home, melancholy mixed with purpose as he confronts a gang in the
old superintendent's office. Really great narration on this, JB.

I really like the JB/Wilson/Sinnott team on this.

Someday Ron Wilson will get the praise he deserves.

I got a question.

I love Ben Grimm. He's almost my favorite Marvel hero. The tough guy with a heart of gold.

But he speaks in a Brooklynese that's very outdated. Nobody in today's BK talks like that today. So...maybe this is a silly question since superhero comics don't exactly attract many new, young readers anymore anyway. But let's imagine they did, or at least that Marvel was going out of its way to make all its superhero titles as accessible as possible.

Would Ben's speech pattern seem like a barrier? ("Why does he talk like this? I don't know anybody who talks at all like this, and I live in Brooklyn.")

I may be making something out of nothing, but I'm curious what others think.

Ben Grimm's/The Thing's speech pattern should never change.
It's as inherent to his character as orange rocky skin.
