Narciso, not sure if you're meaning to suggest that these are the first time in comics that photographic backgrounds were used or maybe the first time John used the technique (probably a language thing) but Neal Adams and Jack Kirby and probably others were using photographic backgrounds at least a decade prior. I do quite like John's use here, though; quite effective and striking.

Thank you, Rick Senger.
My interest here is only John Byrne and the evolutions of his personnal art.
Actually, I have no idea of what he could have introduced prior to anyone in his medium.
No comparison with anyone else, and as a consequence, no contest.
