I'd like to see at least one monthly comic from Dwayne McDuffie.

Paul Ryan deserves some work.

Indeed.  I've been a fan of his since DP7.  There's something nice, detailed and clean about his artwork that makes it easy to follow.

Ryan is one of the nicest guys on Earth.  When I wrote a Silver Surfer prose story for an anthology, he drew the illustration.  I enquired about buying the original and he made me a gift of it -- a very generous gesture to a total stranger.

He's drawing the Phantom newspaper strip and also Phantom graphic novels for overseas.

Two guys I would love to see working full time in comics today

PAUL RYAN

He's busy doing the Phantom Daily strip

and

GRAHAM NOLAN

He's currently doing Rex Morgan MD and The Sunday Phantom and is looking to get back into regular comic book work. Saw some Hulk samples he did for Marvel in the last Back Issue magazine I got.

Edited to correct a spelling mistake

Mike Zeck.  I'd love to see a regular book by Zeck.  His Cap after JB left was a thing of beauty.  He also draws one mean Deathlok, a favorite of mine.

And he was the definitive Punisher penciller for a while. I'm very surprised that he's not on a regular title these days.

Are there collected editions of these strips?

Where is Steven "WEB OF SPIDER-MAN" Butler now?

Steven Butler is working on Sonic the Hedgehog, and has been for several years.  After Silver Sable and Web of Spider-Man, he did short comics for Disney adventures.  He also does Powermark, which is a superhero comic distributed by christian churches in Asia.

Steve's a great guy.  I've known him since he, Mitch Byrd, and I all went to the University of Southern Mississippi.  He came over to the LCS in Biloxi and did a signing for "free comic book day".  first time I'd talked to him in years.  I asked him if he missed working for M***** and he told me that he was really happier where he was at.

I always liked Ryan and Zeck.  Zeck's Cap run was what got me into that character.

A funny thing about Mike Zeck and Jerry Ordway: years ago, when Jerry was working on Superman, I began to notice that his drawing style was somewhat similar to Mike Zeck's, particularly in the way he drew his male lead character.  Ordway's Superman had this kind of  stocky, "thick" quality that really brought to mind Zeck's Captain America and Punisher. I had often wondered what a collaboration between the two would look like, especially since Ordway was taking on a number of inking assignments.
Fast forward a few years, and lo! The final handful of DC's Azrael comics are sporting Zeck/Ordway covers! Indeed, the covers of the most recent Deadshot miniseries are also by this combo. I would really be interested in learnng how they came to team up!

Mike Zeck is my second favorite artist.  He has his own website, is selling art on eBay and recently did covers for a Deadpool limited series. (Go DC!)

Norm Breyfogle was one of my fav Batman artists (has his own website) and is working on a book called Of Bitter Souls for Relative Comics.

Jerry Ordway has his own website as well and (as mentioned before) is working on a Tom Strong series.

Kurt Schaffenberger passed away a couple years ago.

I read somewhere that Aparo has an exclusive contract with DC but they aren't giving him work.  The contract is for health insurance purposes.  He is 73 I think so I don't know how much work he'd want to do anyway.

Murphy Anderson is 79 so he also probably wants to be more or less retired.  He has done recent covers for Roy Thomas' Alter Ego magazine.

Roger Stern, Howard Mackie, Al Milgrom,Roy Thomas,Bill Messner-Loebs, Bill Mantlo, Michael Golden, Larry Hama, Howard Mackie,Paul Ryan

Are these guys really not doing anything?

What the heck is wrong with the comic industry? The big companies should be out wining and dining these guys to get them to work on high profile books and flagship titles.

Oy.

Larry Hama. I'll never forgive those fanboy bastards for chasing Hama off Batman.

How about Bret Blevins and Mike Manley. I know they do storyboards for Justice league but I'd like to see them do some comics.

Also, I'd like to see Al Willaimson draw or ink as well. He used to do a great job on John Romita, jr. Or perhaps he can illustrate a space opera.  You know that lizard creature Obi Wan Kenobi was riding in ROTS was inspired by an Al Williamson Star Wars drawing.

The customer's money is always right. Was a drop in sales the reason Hama was booted? Or was it DC losing its nerve to the message board mobs?

Roger Stern is one of the best writers in comic book history.
He really understands the characters and always tells a good story-

That said (if I were made the god of the comic industry) I personally feel he would be better used as an EIC- esp. of Marvel comics.
That company needs some major reform.

I have to second the McLeod vote.  I love his inks, and I really enjoyed his pencil work too.
