Loved Larry Stucker's inks -- will he be taking over?  I sure hope so.  It was difficult to glance at the issue and figure out who inked what ...

Fantastic story, tho I'm not digging the subplot/overarching plot with Luthor and Black Adam. I assume that it has something to do with all those miniseries that I am skipping?

I love that the annoying little boy at the beginning of the book is named Brendan!

The pages inked by Stucker look better than the ones inked by Nelson, to my eye. (And they look kinda Joe Kubert-ish, which isn't a bad thing.)

One thing confused me. Superman says to Shrapnel:

"You're used to the Doom Patrol, so..."

But...but...the new DP series..."nothing is canon!"...and JB is the penciller on ACTION...so...huh? wha?

JB & GS get better and better with each issue!  And since their first time out together was fantastic, you know what that means...  ACTION COMICS #830 is pretty darn close to comic book perfection!  Gail's story has me hooked, JB is JB, and both Nelson and Stucker do a great job with the inking this issue (though the pages containing what I think are Stucker's inks look more pleasing to me).

Another thing that I really appreciate is the fact that even though this installment may be part of a larger crossover storyline, the issue is presented in such a way that it feels perfectly self-contained.

I used to say that DOOM PATROL was my favorite monthly, then last week BLOOD of the DEMON threatened DP's standing.  Now this issue of ACTION has me pumped.  I'm not sure I can say for certain which of the three I enjoy most right now, but then again that's a good problem to have, isn't it?

Jason Schulman: "You're used to the Doom Patrol, so..."

****

I asked for that line to be deleted. Glad to see the editor was doing his job, as usual.

Gail Simone you are a wicked person...  And I say that in a loving way.  You so nailed Dr. Psycho.  I am now thoroughly creeped out by him.

And I second those who comment about that last page.  I almost feel sorry for Adam and Psycho.  Almost......  not quite.

"I asked for that line to be deleted."-John Byrne.

I think I've stumbled onto a possible cure for these little perturbances! It's the gutter notes! There just too out of the way there. Why not write them -in- the panel? Big bold and up front. This might be a better way to get the message across-LOL.

Actually, joking aside...I wonder how often you've put in a colouring not in the pencilling stage to have the inker rub it out after he/she's done their inking job leaving the colourist with no notes-LOL.
