Some of NEXT MEN was brush, some was crowquill pen.

As to G3 --- so far, I have noticed that no one who has not actually seen the originals has been able to tell which pages were Sharpie and which were brush. And even some who have seen the originals were not sure!

What makes a good inker?

As for you using a sharpie on your work.  Wow.  That is pure talent because I can't create the same results.

Isn't it funny -- I liked the inking on the last 4-5 issues of Lab Rats better than the first few issues ... eye of the beholder.

JB, when you use a brush, do you create thicker lines by adding more pressure to the brush or do you go back over the line in the same fashion in which you use the Sharpie?

Yep. I don't fret about it though - even when there's a period where I
don't like the inks so much, I know JB likes to mix things up enough that
it wouldn't be long before I really like them again.

I assume that later Next Men and early Wonder Woman was with the
crowquill, I thought they were ok (there were a lot of lines on faces which
reminded me a bit too much of the "Image style" that was all the rage
then) but I definitely preferred the brush. I'm guessing that the brush
returned sometime during the Wonder Woman run and through most of
G1 - if so, that would help explain why I really liked those inks as well.

Granted, I'm one of the folks who can't tell which issues of G3 were
Sharpie or brush.

Added: Oops, meant "yep" for it all being in the eye of th beholder.
(another post was inserted while I was making my own).

I LOVED all the inks in G3.  It was actually G3 that inspired me to start experimenting with various markers and Sharpies and whatnot.

Partially because I asked you at the time, and partially because I R-E-A-L-L-Y studied the pages, I guessed pretty good with regard to the Sharpie vs. Brush pages on G3.  Where you GOT me was in the last two (I think) issues where you were using Sharpies on DC PAPER and not on the Dress Shirt Cardboard, because I thought those pages were done with a Radiograph pen or something similar.

Even though I LOVE your pen work...I long for the BRUSH days.  I dunno why, but I really, really like your brush work.  You have a way of getting certain lines out of your brush that even the BEST brush inkers are not able to produce.

In any event...keep up the FINE PENCIL WORK, and the FUN INKS on the covers!

Both, tho mostly the former.
