If you had one of these hanging in your house, how could you not smile every time you come in the room?

Man, I don't think you'd have a problem living up to your legend if the stars aligned and you returned to the FF, these are the most inspiring images I've seen in a long time.

JB you were created specifically to draw comics! And everything point to
the matter that Marvel characters were created with you in mind!!!

WOW MASTER!

SWEETNESS! Those are great, JB. I'm almost jealous. Man, these
pieces are just crying out to be issued in an over-sized portfolio at
least. The Fantastic Art of John Byrne or something like that. Two
copies of each, one colored one not. Marvel's really missing the
boat. With all the supposed negative stuff being forwarded around
the net these days, why can't someone forward these to Marvel?
Maybe they'd see the light.

Champion work!

Yes, I'd love to see JB back at Marvel working hard to restabilise the
foundations of the House of Ideas that Jack 'n' Stan 'n' Steve built. But it's
like the man himself has said regarding the FF, in particular, how do you
follow an act that others consider second only to Jack 'n' Stan's original
run without tarnishing that reputation?

I say you start by producing a mini-series, distilling the best damn story
that's been milling around your teeming brain for the last 20 years or so
since you left the characters, and see how it's received. If the art's like the
above, and what we've seen elsewhere, and the story's 20 years in the
making, then how could it go wrong?

But do Batman first before you leave DC! ;-)

That Thing/Hulk piece is REALLY big. Like 30x40 as
I recall.

Darragh: With drawings like the ones JB posted here, I don't think it matters that it's the best damn story he can tell. The story could be sub-par--though, with JB, I don't think it would be--and with that high quality art, then it there's no way the comic could do anything but enhance his reputation (okay, they'll always be Byrne-bashers, but could even they deny this type of glory?).

John, many thanks for showing these commission pieces. They are wonderful. I really wish that you would take all of them, doodles/sketches that you do and put them into a book. I really love how your art looks in black and white. Again, thanks.
