Slightly off-topic: Does Gladiator have his own version of Kryptonite?

I dislike the newer "power levels amped up by technology beamed to him) explanation for Gladiator's incredible abilities.  What was wrong with the reasons JB provided for his incredible abilities?

I agree Wallace. I always thought that sucker punch was awesome, and if I remember correctly Doc broke his hand doing it! Samsons strength level has always been a little vague, and if you go by the OHOTMU he can only lift 25 tons?? I always figured he was a little under She-Hulk's power level at around 60 tons or so? As for the Silver Surfer vs Superman that would be no contest....Surfer easily wins that one.

Doc's always been underestimated. I really liked the fact that JB's version had him doing things like digging underground to intercept the vehicle carrying the Hulk, etc. I can recall that Doc was described (can't recall which issue) as being as strong as a calm Hulk. That's pretty bloody strong, in anyone's language. I think he'd be comparable to Jen Walters in strength, if not in endurance and the capability to heal rapidly. Even being able to seriously consider throwing a punch at the Hulk, let alone getting one in,  makes him one of M*****'s toughest, in my view.

In any case, it's not about how hard Samson struck, tho that is certainly a factor. Most important, tho, is that he caught the Hulk completely off-guard. Who had ever done that before?

++++++++++++++++

It had been occasionally said prior to JB's story that Banner exerted a moderating influence on the Hulk, and it was a stroke of genius to have Banner somehow causing the Hulk to hallucinate, so as to set him up for Samson's sneak-attack.

Something about the Lee/Kirby Hulk that I loved was their emphasis on his uncanny and often totally unexpected ability to act and react very quickly, despite his immense bulk.

"Always"? You mean, since before the book was even published? Since before I wrote it? Before I drew it? Before you'd ever even heard of the Hulk?

Wow! Did that comment really need such a snippy response?

I always thought that Gladiator was more based on Mon-El/Superboy as the rest of the Imperial Guard were based on LOSH members.
