Yes Greg, cloning Thor, God of Thunder......HAHHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHA!!!!
That's a good one.....as if Tony Stark could clone Thor and use him
against Captain America's team...I mean that would be some of the worst
writing in Marvel history...oh wait...it already DID happen....nevermind.....
Hulk
breathing underwater started with issue #77, Peter David's first issue
back after a long absence.
I refuse to believe either of these things.
Nope.
Not gonna do it.

And people act surprised when I tell them I don't read anything by Marvel
anymore.

Kitty phases whatever she touches by concentrating on that stuff... or something.
So she could.... touch you and phase you.
She has used it to tear people out of speeding cars.

Wasn't superman originally able to leap "only" an 1/8 of a mile as opposed
to being able to fly?

That's probably the first question along the path of 'time to leave these things behind' isn't it? Usually kicks in when you are 12 or so...

Well I guess you'd know, Ian...
Yeah, that's what I love about this place- ask a reasonable question of the
man (who asks that you not speak for him, by the way) and
a) people speak for him
b) at least one of them will insinuate that you are stupid/childish/an
asshole/a troll- all without ever thinking about the irony involved
c) the mods turn a blind eye to point 'a'
Clearly, John's Kitty could phase other objects, or she would've been
naked the first time that she fell through the floor. That being the case, it
seems logical to assume that going to a school designed to help mutants
with their powers would enable them to achieve greater control of their
abilities over time.
Of course, if Kitty starts shooting laser beams from her nostrils, I'd
consider that reasonable grounds for complaint.

Hey slow down there - I was making no such insinuation! I maybe should have used a smiley or something, but was definitely not (by intent) being confrontational. Gentle ribbing, perhaps - you know, humour, the thing that made us call them comics in the first place...

Okeydokey, fair enough.
And that, kids, is why I'm all for little winkies...

That's not something my Kitty could have done, as I recall. +++ Wasn't superman originally able to leap "only" an 1/8 of a mile as opposed to being able to fly? **** Superman developed additional powers for a great many reasons, none of which were internal. However, unlike Kitty, he did have a built in reason for developing extra powers, sucking up more solar radiation. (The "solar radiation" angle was itself a retcon, of course, but at least it was a retcon that actually solved something.) Expanding the powers of mutants and other superfolk, at Marvel or DC, most often comes down to "I want to have him/her do this!" That's how, for instance, Nightcrawler suddenly became "invisible in shadow", despite never having shown this ability before, and despite the fact that this would mean he was invisible at night. And it's how Kitty gets to do things she probably shouldn't.

John Byrne said ''That's how, for instance, Nightcrawler suddenly became "invisible in shadow", despite never having shown this ability before, and despite the fact that this would mean he was invisible at night''
That ability first appeared in Uncanny #102, with the explanation given next issue.
