In my awed and stunned state, I actually missed Vinny's first post about being the commissioner and the back story to the commission, when I first posted yesterday. I spotted references to it when I returned to FOUR more pages of conversation on the topic today and went back... and...
CONGRATULATIONS, VINNIE!!! That is one extraordinary commission piece you've got yourself. Makes me wish I'd win the lottery so that I too can enter the commission game.
Also, love what you've done to your desktop background.

Interesting psychology to the piece, too.
Batman could have simply been standing over a defeated Wolverine, looking down at him, without touching him. The slashes on his body would be sufficient to communicate that this was the aftermath of their battle and not a case of Batman simply arriving late to find a fallen Wolverine.
But Batman holding up Wolverine's arm, as if at the end of "catching" him before he collapsed, while looking away at the "observer" ... if I had to write a caption for Batman in this scene it would be something like
"Well, I didn't want it to go down this way -- but there it is. Happy?"

Awesome drawing.
I also like how it almost reduces Wolverine to the scale of Killer Croc or
some other vicious Bat-villain... a lot closer to the original concept of the
character than "unkillable samurai-man!"

Interesting 'reading', Jesus.
Looking at Wolverine's face, I suddenly got the feeling that Batman had to do something very, very nasty to him in order to stop him.

Hmm, that is an interesting interpretation....I wasn't sure what to make of Wolverine's expression, but your theory works for me.
Also the body language is really telling...Wolverine has more "weight" than someone of his stature would. You can tell that the Adamantium-laced skelton is really weighing him down a bit.
A part of me still wants to get one of them in action, but I'm glad I got this 'outcome' shot. Perhaps my next commission.......

Jump in fast, Vinny! I have already received a
request for a "before" shot, which I declined, at least
for now, so as not to take the bloom off your rose too
quickly!

Go for it, Vinnie! You know you want to. ;) And just looking at your jackpot, I can truly understand how addictive it must be.

JB, is there any X-Men member that could defeat
Batman in a fight, in your opinion?
***
Cyclops and Storm, who can both throw "zaps" from
a distance. Provided they got the drop on him, of
course!!

How about Mr Wagner, JB? Couldn't he possibly surprise Batman?

Hard to imagine how Kurt, who arrives with a burst of smoke and a stench of brimstone (tho probably not the familiar BAMF on the arrival end) could surprise anybody!
