Depends on the writer, I think. He'd always be affected by poisons but I think it differs whether the gas knocks him out or if he just hangs in there and shakes it off.

I was rushing to catch a bus to go to work when I posted before, so now I can say a little more:
JB, I'm honestly not saying this because this is mine, but this just might be the best Batman I've ever seen you draw. (And oh god, did I just say that this is "mine"??) Really love the inks too.
I wonder if you would have gone with the black cape on Batman on your own. I really think the cuts stand out better this way.
I've been a bit reluctant to ask for this because in my mind I thought "Nah, too obvious". For some reason I've been under the impression that you must have been asked to draw this several times over the years, but didn't want to ask publicly to avoid giving someone else the idea before I ever got to it. So, now I can ask, have you drawn them together before at a Con or for an older commission?

WOW!!!
Love it to peaces!
Really wonder why the big two companies haven't begged JB to do this comicbook yet. Would be an instant hit!

"JB, I'm curious - what did the commissioner actually request?"
Gene, I did mention it above, but for the hell of it, this is the snippet of my original email to Jim Warden:
"Batman vs. Wolverine - Batman's cape and cowl inked black, and Wolverine in his brown costume. JB would be free to show whoever would have the upper hand in such a matchup. 11x17, no backgrounds."

Oh, and BTW, I love that this piece is sparking a bit of debate - that's what I was hoping for!

I think any gas Wolverine would recover from very quickly. Poison too.

Well, it's not brainwashing. It's all from published stories-though I may have spoke a bit too much about his martial arts. I don't mean he's Shang Chi (sorry if I spelled that wrong). Like he'll be in a stance. But he knows how to fight with a sword/samarai, and has his eastern influences.
I was always annoyed by the idea that Batman, simply as being himself, can beat anyone. Without people even feeling the need to say how.
However, JB did provide an answer.

Wolverine is the best there is at what he does - but ONLY at what he does. Picture Batman beating Catwoman in DKR because she's ONLY a master of judo. Batman is second-best at everything.
GREAT commission.
