He's just got a lot of powerful people in government (and the general public) duped into thinking he's one of the good guys.

Doesn't the general public know he was the Green Goblin?

Since someone mentioned the new movie, Is anyone else annoyed by some of the images from the movie trailer where you never see Wolverine's claws extended with an open hand? I know that the prop is something that Hugh Jackman must hold in a clenched fist, I just think that it would look cool to see exposed claws in some other position than from a clenched fist.

Correct me if I'm wrong JB but I recall you wanting to do something similar as what is suggested in the above post. Wolvering placing his palm on a bad guy's chest and having his claws extend through his own hand......Would have been pretty, pretty, cool....That and the never, realized death of Mariko sequence...

He managed to trick the public into thinking that he never was the Goblin shortly after his return. I'm not sure if it's been revealed as a lie since then, though.

I believe he's claimed that Spider-Man and/or the Goblin dressed him up in a Goblin costume.

I had in mind that Wolverine would get pinned under somebody, hands flat
against his assailant's chest, and have no choice but to pop the claws thru
the palms of his own hands. Owitch!

JB did you envision Logan having bare discernible slits on the back of his hands for the claws to come of or did you figure they would pop out and have his hands heal when he retracts them..
I remember JRjr drew housings on the back of Logans hand...

When Magneto had the X-Men captured in the volcano and secured in their chairs, I thought Wolverine would be the one to engineer the escape (Storm as a lockpicking pickpocket would never have occured to me). I figured Wolverine would still be able to extend his claws in spite of the chair's effects, since so much of Wolverine's behavior occurs at a level below his conscious control. If Nanny had gotten him mad enough, or frustrated enough, the claws would pop.
Of course, if his forearms, wrists, and hands were held perfectly still by the restraints, then I suppose his claws would come straight out, time after time, and be unable to cut him free.

William, the Norman Osborn stuff really isn't so bad - it's actually
pretty interesting. He's still the same ol' scummy Green Goblin we know
and hate. He's just got a lot of powerful people in government (and the
general public) duped into thinking he's one of the good guys. In many
ways, this makes him more dangerous than ever.
It's not some major shift for the character.
---
I think turning Norman Osborn into the Lex Luthor of the Marvel Universe is a big shift. I especially don't understand how Osborn has become the effective leader of the supervillain community, heading a cabal that includes Doctor Doom, Loki, and an agent of Dormammu. Any of those guys could smack down Osborn with minimal effort. I understand why the villains of the DC Universe would defer to Luthor; he faces down Superman on a regular basis. Norman Osborn's archenemy is Spider-Man.
I am liking Dark Avengers, however, probably because it's basically an extension of Thunderbolts.

Clint Barton made a very bold move at the end of New Avengers #50, which should have a profound effect on Osborn's credibility with the general public, too.

Yeah, I wonder about the housings, too. I thought that they were on wolverine's gloves for some reason, but have seen some renderings with them on his hands.

On the back of my right hand I have a slender white scar, a souvenir of
where one of my dogs accidentally scratched me when I was a kid. Drawing
Wolverine, I imagined he had something similar, if more pronounced. He'd
pop the claws thru his skin, and when he retracted them the wounds would
heal.
I also figured it hurt every time he popped the claws.
