We were treated to a recent Iron Man miniseries ("Bad Blood," I believe it was called?) that featured Michelinie & Layton -- it was good-ish, but it didn't really knock my socks off. It hit me at about the same level as the recent Claremon/Byrne run on Justice League -- good . . . WAY better than a lot of current stuff, to be honest, but nowhere near what they achieved way back when on X-Men.
Sometimes you just can't recapture the magic.

I only saw the preview for X-Men Forever, but is that the one with the splash page showing Gambit as Remy Picard?

Remember, just because a book sold out at Diamond does not mean that same book sold out from comic shops. The whole "sold out" press announcement is just another one of the many gimmicks used by comic book company's to boost sales on subsequent issues of a particular comic by trying to convince fans and speculators that a particular book is "hot".
That being said, I'm enjoying X-Men Forever and I definitely hope that this book does really well and will eventually lead to more books set in the Forever continuity that ignores continuity from a certain point in a book or characters history. So I really hope that this series is a sell out at the retail level as well as from Diamond.

But yes. And the preview for #2 can be seen at CBR, but be aware there's a spoiler about the death of a character.

Jeff, that was from the 8 page story from the X-Men Forever Alpha reprint book.
And Claremont has said in at least one interview that Gambit has a different last name for every passport, which makes a lot of sense for a thief.

Rick, people were saying on-line it had sold out at many shops even before that announcement.
At the shop where i buy my comics a friend of mine got to the shop on the second day and could not have a copy. And they had a fair number of it when i got mine.

Well that could be due to dealers ordering very few copies of the issue. Remember, it's a lot easier to sell out of (at a retail level) a book that you order 5 to 10 copies of, then it is a book that you order 50 to 100 copies of.

Yes. It is possible (we will see the figures later) but if it is certainly true for some shops, others got a decent amount of copies and still sold out.
