Iron Fist was one of my very first heroes. My mother read me his
origin, which remains very powerful to me, even today.

Pick up the ESSENTIAL. Cheaper than back issues -- plus, Chris and I get royalties!

Iron Fist was probably the first series that I collected in its entirety as a kid. Loved everything about it. IF #7 was cinematic to me in its scope. Young JB was really feeling himself on that series...

Young JB...

"Young" indeed! What comes across so strongly when I look at my oldest professional work is not just my chronological youth, but my artistic "innocence". I really had no true sense of the world I was trying to express thru my art. Really would not start to develop that sense, either, until my horizons were quite literally expanded by my move to Chicago, and subsequently New York.

It's funny, when I went to New York to meet Neal Adams, I instantly
understood why living in the suburbs of Baton Rouge wasn't helping
me when it comes to drawing city environments. For the 12 hours I
was there, I kept thinking to myself, "Man I really need to live here
fora year, just so I can draw it."

OK, now I want to read that Iron Fist run again. (Wonder if the Library
has Iron Fist Essentials.)

Joe: I found this!

I have to wonder what kind of heads up JB had as to what the wording was going to be like for this page.

You try saying all that dialog in 10 to 15 seconds!

JB's Iron Fist is definitely my favorite!  Growing up during the kung-fu faze of the 70's, these books and art by JB bring back wonderful memories.   Thanks JB!
