They made a Dazzler costume??? Weird!

And this She-Hulk costume reminds me of Dr. Frankenfurter from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"!...

Everything about these costumes is odd... including the packaging!

Golden Age Batman & Superman, Mary Poppins and... the SPECTRE?? I can't find a Ben Cooper Spectre costume anywhere on the web.

That box is from the mid-1960's btw.

And yeah, these things are the most stupid when the costume also had the character's face on the chest.

The details on the Spider-man and Captain America body costumes (below) are a bit off... but the Hulk's body costume is a total fail --

Oh cool. I can finally dress up like Spider-Man and/or Captain America because they now sell their CAPES...

What the hell was Ben Cooper thinking-

The Aquaman plastic face... is also wearing a mask. WHY?? Why does the mask need a mask?? And to point out how stupid the mask-on-mask choice is, Aquaman doesn't wear a mask on the body suit drawing!

I went three years in a row as Spider-Man, Batman and Superman, though I'm not sure in what order. Those masks made me sweat like nothing before or since, and breathing was a chore. I clearly remember thinking I could spit repeatedly inside the mask and not notice a difference.

Alas, those golden moments didn't last, as my Mom started making me wear hand-me-down costumes she made for my older brothers after that.  I hated that green and purple paisley pirate costume I got stuck in for 3 years!!  And the polka dotted clown costume before that! Stupid older children of the 60's.

I had the Batman one up until I was in first grade, and then I got the Spider-man one. That probably had a lot to do with the Spider-man TV show on in prime time. Hey, it was kick ass when I was six.

My Mom made my costumes. I'd give her a comic book to look at and
work off of. Usually took her about a week. She made Batman, Spider-
Man, Captain Marvel*, Evel Knievel, and Kiss (Cat) costumes for me.
Wish I had pics handy to share, they were pretty cool.

*Which prompted this exchange over and over...

"Hey, It's Shazam!"

"No, I'm Captain Marvel. Shazam is the magic word Billy Batson says
to turn into Captain Marvel."

"...Okay..."

I love how so many of these featuring characters that never wore masks, have the burglar eye mask.  What used to irritate me as a kid is when they'd have the Batman symbol on the forehead of his mask, or when you'd have a Hulk costume, and instead of the Hulk's muscular  torso, you'd have an ugly yellow background, his logo, etc.

Typical old school merchandising designed by old men with no conception of what the kids they're creating for really want. Still, nice trip down nostalgia lane.
