A clipping from my latest project, which I finished inking this afternoon. The full page isn't worksafe, so I chose the portion that is more viewable.

Carmen, if I didn't know any better, I'd swear that was the work of George Perez! Well done.

Perez was one of my early influences next to JB. Many of my earliest drawings as a boy more or less aped the style he used (with Pablo Marcos inking) on the Avengers.

The first Spider-Man I've drawn in decades and it began with one thought (geez, I haven't drawn Spider-Man in decades and I used to draw him all the time, I wonder why I stopped). And then I drew him, and it was fun right up until I had to draw all of the webs, coolest part of the costume but boy do they ever take a while. Much respect for the guys who draw them all the time.

Wow, That's a terrific version of Spider-Man.  I like the classic webbing under his arms, they should have never got rid of it.  It reminds me of Steve Ditko's Spider-Man and I thought his version was the quintessential version of the character.  I would have let Ditko run with his ideas in an alternate universe version of the character just to keep him on the payroll.  However , that's what I would have done if I was the editor of Spider-Man.  If you look at Ditko's Blue Beetle from Charlton Comics (in the late 60's), you could easily put the character in Spider-Man's costume.   I often wonder if some his Blue Beetle story lines were actually ones he would have written for Spider -Man.

But I digress, this version you depicted of Spider-Man is great.  I hope you draw a few more.

I've done my share of slacking off in my lifetime. You only need to make time for it once you take it back up. As with riding a bike, the skills return with practice.

Below are a couple of scans of that work in progress. I printed out a full-sized copy of the original artwork and am in the process of coloring it using Prismacolor Premier and Copic Sketch art markers. In the final phase, all I'll need to do is clean up the panel gutters in the photoshop program and resize it for the DeviantART.com gallery.
