This is because they are consumer staples and not consumer discretionaries. Trading cards are not consumer staples.

The cards were dumb, but I wasn't at all surprised they sold out. Trump has a giant fan base. His fans go from the super-rich to the super-poor. I very much doubt that people who are screaming about high gas prices, or are genuinely feeling the effects of inflation, scooped up these cards. I rather think those that purchased these cards have money to burn.

Yes, I would definitely agree that those who are genuinely feeling the effects of inflation did not scoop up these cards.
At the same time, I do not believe that out of those buying these cards, none have complained about inflation.
As you yourself said, everyone is crying about inflation. And yet a lot of people had the spare cash to fritter away on this.

I read all 45,000 of them sold out in 12 hours. How many buyers that translates into I don't know. I read on CBS News that the cheapest ones are now fetching $650 on the secondary market.
I don't know much about these NFTs. Seems quite speculative. I'd imagine if Trump gets reelected these things will skyrocket.

Seems lots of the images are stolen from other companies; Amazon for the Cowboy Trumf, Men’s Warehouse for the Tuxedo Trumf, and the list is getting longer. Copyright infringement anyone?

One is Sean Connery's body from the movie Zardoz with Trump's head slapped on, if I remember right.

Zardoz? Ha ha, that's funny. Trump has more than a little P.T. Barnum in him.

Just reading through the introductory material to the Final Report of the Select Committee for January 6. A pretty damning section is when they have compiled a table showing what various people have testified they told Trump behind closed doors and comparing it to the way he subsequently publicly lied about what they'd told him.
e.g. Acting Deputy AG Richard Donaghue's testimony about a conversation he had with Trump on 27 Dec 2020 "The President then continued, there are 'more votes than voters' and I said, you know, that was just a matter of them comparing the 2020 votes cast to 2016 registration numbers. That is not a valid complaint."
Trump then on 21 January 2021 spoke publicly about "More votes than voters. And many other states also."

This will drag on until he’s dead, without him seeing a day in prison. And then half the country will start demanding he be added to Mount Rushmore.

One thing I can't believe about Trump is him saying he was a better president than Washington and Lincoln were. His statements about the subject are for more than hubris. They're just crazy. That said, I believe this referral to DOJ is nothing but politics.
