It was. The second-best inks during the first 30 issues of FF, just below Sinnott's #5.

Which series should Dan Green have inked JB on?  More AVENGERS?  Something else?

He would have been the perfect guest-inker pick for ELSEWHEN, especially given that he had inked X-titles for nearly 15 years.

Sadly, the Grim Reaper has removed so many I would have loved to invite to join ink a page or two. Dan, George, Neal, Tom.

Favorite penciler/inker collaboration? Kirby & Sinnott for sure. Marshall Rogers and Terry Austin blew my mind before I saw his inks on Uncanny X-Men.

Also, Kevin Nowlan's inks on José Luis García-López were amazing.

Also, Dan Green & JB on Avengers was FANTASTIC and should've gone longer.

Another inker that for me was great with JB - Joe Rubinstein. Their collaboration on CAPTAIN AMERICA was way too short.

-C!

I wish there had been more JB/Dan Green stuff. Loved Rubinstein's inks over JB too. I know it's all down to personal preference, but I was less keen on the JB/Wiacek combo.

When Marvel started returning Kirby’s art and stacks of pages were flowing thru the Office, Mike Higgins and I scooped up piles of it and scurried into Mike Carlin’s office to study it. It was an illuminating experience.

Joe Sinnott had told me Stan encouraged him to redraw Kirby’s pencils, to make them smoother and more elegant. Seeing the actual pages, with Jack’s pencils in many cases still visible, it was fascinating to see how much Joe brought to the table. I recall one profile of Reed Richards looking very much like himself in the inks, but underneath looking more like Dick Tracy.

(And don’t worry, all those pages Mike and I took to study were duly returned before days end.)

I remember seening an uninked, unused Kirby page for FF#6 at San Diego Con in 2006 (for $6000 - if only I had enough disposable income back then). It looked vastly different than the rest of the art that issue (I believe Dick Ayers inked that one).

In those days Kirby would mostly have been producing what today would be called breakdowns or layouts. The inkers were called upon to add much.

Kirby and Wallace Wood. I can't believe I forgot that one.

Ross Andru and Tom Palmer. Wow, was that something...and on Doc Savage.

I loved Wally Wood inking anybody!  He really elevated the work while still somehow leaving it looking like the penciler's style!

--inking Ric Estrada on the great ALL-STAR COMICS Justice Society revival (one of the best Supermans of all time)
--inking Ditko on DC's STALKER
--inking Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez on HERCULES UNBOUND
--inking Don Heck on some issues of AVENGERS...the best Don Heck ever looked!
--and more!  All great!

Unrelated shout out to Wood for designing the classic red-suited Daredevil, Power Girl, and the THUNDER Agents!  Some of the all-time best!
