THIS IS WHAT I’VE BEEN SAYING!!!
He’s laying the groundwork. We’re gonna be either in the middle of, or at the brink of WWIII and he’s gonna cancel it.

As a Canadian; and one who works in federal law enforcement, I have been struggling to come to terms with the fact that Americans and America are no longer our friends and probably shouldn’t be considered allies any longer for what must be obvious reasons; The 51st state rhetoric, the justification that another nation’s resources could become the pretext for American hostility or aggression, all the outdated commentary about the Monroe Doctrine, the flagrant thumbing of rule of law and democratic values. We have resources (water, minerals, potash, etc) that your President covets. I have many American acquaintances and claim several who I met on this forum over the years as my online friends but Canadian values and interests no longer align with America.
Also, because of my career, I will say that these views and opinions are mine and do not reflect my employer or the Government of Canada - but are shared by many, if not most Canadians. We are angry, scared and defiant.
I hope we can all get through this but it may take generations before Canadians feel warmly towards the USA again.

As an American, I can't see how anyone could trust us again. I am truly sorry it's come to this, and it may get much worse before it's over.

Hate the government/administration, and the idiot voters. Don't lump the rest of us in with them.

Brian, I don’t lump you all together as one. My hate, for it really has turned to hate, is reserved for certain individuals within the administration - the likes of Trump, Hesketh, Rubio, Vance - along with certain enablers - like Musk, Alex Jones, Fox News etc.
However, that 50% of voters who seem to worship at the foot of this twat hold another big responsibility, especially as they become even more emboldened to say the most outrageous things. America is back!
Is this America? the racist, warmongering, land taking country? Is this what it wants to be now?
And my biggest hate is reserved for those in the UK like Farage who want us to become like that too.

The first time I was in continental Europe back in '96, I remember being made to feel (and also feeling) that I needed to be apologetic for being American - this in response to the Iraq War. Now I wouldn't blame people if they refused to serve me. When you add the usual low regard others have for Americans in general along with a now actually earned loathing, traveling abroad feels like it's going to require a hefty amount of solipsism to not just feel like the ugly American.

My first time in Europe was in 1994. I met a Palestinian gentleman on a train, who literally spit when I identified as an American. But he spent the next hour engaging me in enthusiastic, friendly conversation. For all the deserved disgust Americans inspire as a nation, we can still be fairly popular on individual bases.
