I always liked the fact that, while you were identifying as Republican when I was first on the board (if memory serves), you were also progressive about issues such as abortion rights, same-sex marriage etc.
Hell, remember when there was a "Boys Will Be Boys" thread where people would post beautiful women so JB allowed the gay guys who were on here to have our own thread of "Boys will LIKE Boys." And you know what? I am still in touch with many of those guys today, so it was a great bonding thing through this board.
Even earlier than that: there was a sea change in the early 90s when it came to gay rights. AIDS had claimed so many that people were more vocal and it led to a rise in gay publishing, etc. No, not what we see today but it was significant from the scary 80s. So when "Next Men" was coming out, people were often writing letters asking why one of them couldn't be gay, etc. And JB was always very cordial in his responses which was, they just aren't. But it wasn't homophobic or "I'd never do that." It's just that those characters weren't. And of course, even further back than that, we had Northstar.
And heck, there's a rainbow motif on the logo. A homophobe would not have one as he'd be afraid it was endorsing gay rights. Like DeSantis with crosswalks in Florida, he'd tear it down.
