I had something written but opted not to post because it was too rambling/philosophical for so early in the thread. Without a doubt, an unsung key architect of 20th century global culture.

Superman was my "gateway drug" into superhero comics. He's on my office wall for inspiration (a George Perez homage of Shuster's Superman # 1 cover). So I owe Mr Shuster, and Siegel, a huge thanks for years and years of joy.
