>>You know what would be neat?... If Marvel (assuming a new EIC) asked JB to take his old FF run and redraw it (and tweak the script) in his more modern art and wnriting style, but set it in modern-day FF continuity. Then we'd get splash pages like the above.
What would be better, of course, would be new FF by JB.
-Steve<<
Or, taking for another thread, the notion that the Marvel U gets rebooted by the Shaper of Worlds, and rather than starting from scratch, put out a volume of "The History of the Marvel Universe" for each main character/group putting down what's "In" and what's "Out" and get JB to draw a splash for each major "event" of the FF (and X-Men . . and Spider-Man . . and Avengers . . and Alpha Flight) so we could then continue with modern stories, but with a cleaned and flowing history in place.

Seeing those two pieces also makes me want JB back on FF. Lord, it did hurt when he exited the title nearly 20 years ago.

Jim Warden is about to get an email from me.
(I don't care how long the list is).
Too bad, the Thing is about to have a new monthly solo-title launched. It ain't gonna be the real Thing, 'cause he's hanging out at JB's house.
I think that the only commission that I really want these days is a Byrne masterpiece like the ones posted lately.
Great job, Mr. B.

I dunno if this is a silly question or not, but JB, would you say that
the Thing shown in these commissions is your "current" Thing? I ask
because he looks a bit different than the look you gave him circa
FF#250. So I'm just curious if you were to, say, actually take over FF
again next week, if this is how you would approach his look.

Truly fantastic work (pun intended)!!
One of these days, hopefully when JB has the chance, I have to see about getting a commission. I've noted this before, but it seems to me that JB puts every bit of extra effort into these commissions. The buyer gets every bit as much energy from JB as he puts into a job for one of the publishers.
By the way, JB, do you do commissions featuring someone's original creations (i.e., not for a publisher, and not intended as a cover for a small press comic)?

I dunno if this is a silly question or not, but JB, would you say that the Thing shown in these commissions is your "current" Thing?****** I've posted three commission pieces with the Thing, and they are from three different points in his "career", so I would be hard to say any one of them was my "current" version, unless you are speaking strictly about the rendering.

Sorry for being late to the party, but these latest two commissions are really stunning. Beautiful work John!!! I especially love the background details in the Doom vs FF, with the castle up in the top right and the poster of the "face" in the mid-right. This looks like a shot of Jack Russell (a.k.a. Werewolf by Night).
And, the Thing vs Thing for Wayne was incredible as well (I must have missed that one over the holidays). Best...

Will the recent commissions be added to the gallery? I looked
and could not find them....perhaps I glanced over them. If not,
is there a reason only certain ones are posted there?
Thanks,
Joe
