I can't really understand the difference between creator and co-creator. It's as if Jack Kirby didn't create the FF or Stan Lee didn't create Spider-Man. Co-creators are two unseperable parts of the same thing.
And, yes, Dazzler may have been handed down by the editors (if you believe wikipedia, which lists Kirby and Lee as Avalanche's creators....) or Romita may have designed Wolverine's costume but the writer and the artist did more than that. They put voice, emotion, action, movement and feeling to a designed figure. That's why they are the creators for me.
Of course, many people contributed to the evolution of, say, Wolverine. Claremont, Byrne, Cockrum, Windsor-Smith, Paul Smith, Hamma, Quesada, Andy Kubert, Adam Kubert. That doesn't change the fact that he first appeared in a Hulk story writen by Wein and drawn by Trimpe. That's why these two are the creators and not anybody else.
Anyway, I am very serious about doing the absolute, complete take no prisoners list of JB's creations, even though there is the problem of the time difference which will complicate synchronization, but I am confident we will overcome it. If any are willing to help and make smaller lists based on titles, every hand available is welcome.
I propose we include the real name, the alias (if any), the creators involved (other writer or artist involved) and if possible, first appearence. I think this may prove to be a fun collaboration and something every visitor will appreciate.
