...my wife says I'm too old for superheroes. But dammit! I can't stop loving them! *** Then you're not too old for them.

I like Guardian (and Vindicator) but never Sprite. When I heard Sprite as a kid reading old issues, it sounded like soda. I had never heard it used as a supernatural type being. It didn't have any other meaning to me-even though I had heard the other supernatural beings. I don't think it was a very common word in America, but I could be wrong
Shadowcat was a cool sounding name though. It didn't really matter if it didn't describe her powers.
I assumed cat was because her name was Kitty and Shadow referenced how she was intangible-you could see her but she wasn't really there. Like a shadow, there is nothing really there to touch.
For a long long time she has just been Kitty.

I quite liked Sprite. I tend to prefer short snappy names that would be easy to call out in a battle situation.

I like the name Shadowcat, I actually think it does work for the character,
it doesn't tell exactly what she does, but neither does Sprite (which I
actually don't like), but shadows are immaterial, and so is Kitty Pryde,
plus the who Cat and Kitty thing, I've always thought it was a great name
and a perfect fit, even with no reference to that book.

I like Sprite. Since I stopped drinking caffeinated beverages, I prefer Sprite
over Sierra Mist or 7-Up.
Wait -- what are we talking about again?

JB-
Puck doesn't have powers. He's just good at what he's good at. That is what I meant with what I wrote. Does it annoy you how much baggage Puck has acquired over the years in terms of extraneous back story/powers/origins? It annoys me. I wish we could have the old Puck back.

But you almost never, if ever, hear the word Sprite-so few even knows that it does describe her at all.
Either way, she has fallen victim to calling characters by their first names, rather than a super hero name

I thought Sprite was a cool name. I didn't dislike Shadowcat but
thought the name alone matured and darkened the character a little too
much. Sprite is very light and young.
JB, does it amaze you how much pepole seem to love Alpha Flight? There seeems to be universal love for it. I know I loved it.

I didn't know Sprites were elfin and elusive, so it told me equally nothing,
if not less, and I doubt most kids would know that either.
I still think Shadowcat is a great name.

I remember some line like, "Don't make any cracks about pulling my tab," being said by Kitty when she told the other X-Men about her new codename. Do you think this Claremont's way of commenting on your name choice, JB?
