1) You complain about things that "wouldn't work", applying "real world" physics.

No.

(2) You fault a point in the latest issue because it contradicts something you read in an issue you bought new off the stands twenty years ago.

No.

(3) You refer to superhero costumes as being made of "Spandex".

What is Spandex? Some kind of fabric?

(4) When you are with your "civilian" friends, you make fun of superheroes whenever they do.

No.

(5) You think superheroes saying "fuck" is "sophisticated".

4 letter words can't be sophisticated.

(6) You think the characters should be at least as old as you are, and some a lot older.

Well, Wolverine will always be older than me.

As for the rest I'm not even sure how old are they. But that's not problem since I look younger then I am.

(7) You wonder about the sex lives of the characters.

When I was teenager I did.

(8) You wonder about the sex lives of the creators.

They have sex life?

(9) You never worry when the hero is in a "death trap" because you know the company has to come out with another issue next month, and anyway you read spoilers about three issues beyond this one in WIZARD

I always worry. I prefer single-issue adventures because of that.

(10) You just don't get it.

I been reading comics from the age of 3 and I will stop reading them the day I die. And I still like superhero comics more then other. To me comics will be always ART.

Speaking of Kitty, I like both Sprite and Shadowcat, but in my mind she is always just Kitty.

My problem with the name "Shadowcat" is the cat-Kitty relationship. I mean, my name is Bill, and if I were a Super-hero, I'd make sure that my name wasn't "Dollar Bill" or "Will-Man" or anything. I'm not a supervillain, I don't want people discovering my secret identity by piecing together clues and using the name to narrow it down.

When is the last time the X-men's secret identities even mattered? Decades?

Try "chic".

:)

Oh in regards to Kitty', I knew people in those days who didn't get the name "Sprite".  I think the only reason I did is because of my D&D background at the time.  I liked the change to Shadowcat.

I never liked "Shadowcat."  Didn't say anything about the character or her powers and the costume she wore post-JB was pretty awful, to put it mildly.  Kitty didn't hang in the shadows, her powers weren't based on shadows, and she really had no cat-like qualities.  The name never made any sense to me.  Now "Sprite" on the other hand perfectly defined Kitty when JB was on X-MEN.

Cat=Kitty

Shadow-because she cannot be touched is intangible like  a shadow is how I always took it..  a shadow is also a term for a ghost or phantom according to the dictionary.

I know that cat=Kitty, Rob, but it doesn't say anything about what she can do.  I've also never thought that her powers were analogous to a shadow.  Doesn't work for me.  YMMV.

I thought both Sprite and Shadowcat worked reasonably well - Ariel, not so much.  As a teen I did know what a sprite was, but I think many kids do not.  Using Ariel hides the hook even more, IMO.  Of course, some might actually go and look these thigns up, which would be good - but most probably would not.

For awhile there I thought Kitty would be to codenames as Janet van Dyne is to costumes.

I never liked that green jumpsuit they had her in for a while, either.

Eh. Kitty Pryde - Sprite is no worse than Jean Grey - Marvel Girl.

Well mostly its just the name she was using when I started. So I was used to it.

Pretty quickly (or maybe already i forget because I read Classic X-men too) she was whisked to Excalibur.

Ariel-ummmm

The satellite of Uranus that is 12th in distance from the planet.
An array-oriented language for the CDC 6400.

the lion of God. (1.) One of the chief men sent by Ezra to procure Levites for
the sanctuary (Ezra 8:16).

(2.) A symbolic name for Jerusalem (Isa. 29:1, 2, 7)
as "victorious under God," and in Ezek. 43:15, 16, for the altar (marg., Heb.
'ariel) of burnt offerings, the secret of Israel's lion-like strength.

altar; light or lion of God

Sprite and Ariel were good code names, Shadowcat not quite as good, but then again-- Kitty's a young woman, still in the process of choosing her own identity (as an adolescent, not just as a superhero) and it's reasonable that she'd "try on" a few different possibilities along the way.
