Post these, please. My wife won't play it because of me.

Personally I think the list is nonsense.

Color me stunned.

And so we bid a not-so-sad adieu to yet another
auto-contrarian.

Important life lesson: automatically stating the
opposite opinion is the same as having no opinion
at all.

Ok...Ok...Ok...after thinking it more...i owe an apology to John Webb. Sorry pal, my comment was out of place, because you did say "You need to find a nice girl to help you around the house and stuff " and not "You need to find a nice girl to do the house and stuff" ....mea culpa!!!

Don't know about Brendan's house rules, but some that we adopted once upon a time were pretty simple--

  • Those less immersed in Star Wars continued to play by the standard "answer right and keep going" rules.
  • Those of us more immersed in Star Wars could continue for only 5 straight questions or until getting one of the category wedges, whichever came first, then play rotated to the next player.

There were, however, no "civilians" in that game.  Just people who knew a lot of Star Wars trivia and people who didn't.  ;-)

Well, Amber Benson helped write a few, so...

Regarding death traps - even as a small child, my thought was "how will they get out of this", not whether they would live or die.

Because in the end, the hero doesn't die, after all. Not back then.

1) You complain about things that "wouldn't work", applying "real world" physics.

Not a problem for me. My science knowledge is some what limited. Seriously, I rarely go that route since I understand I'm reading fantasy.

(2) You fault a point in the latest issue because it contradicts something you read in an issue you bought new off the stands twenty years ago.

Twenty years ago I went through a continuty geek phase, but I grew out of it. Things change, no big deal.

(3) You refer to superhero costumes as being made of "Spandex".

Batman doe not wear SPANDEX!!!!!! Spandex to me is shiney. Shiney isn't very Superheroic. (Unless you're in armor or named Silver Surfer)

(4) When you are with your "civilian" friends, you make fun of superheroes whenever they do.

Wait, we're allowed to have civilian friends????

(5) You think superheroes saying "fuck" is "sophisticated".

Not a fan of the word in any context.

(6) You think the characters should be at least as old as you are, and some a lot older.

Once I was younger than Robin. Now I'm headed towards the Alfred/Gordon age group. I dont think Robin needs to join me. "Boy Wonder" for ever.

(7) You wonder about the sex lives of the characters.

Eh maybe once or twice around puberty, (sex on the brain don't you know)

(8) You wonder about the sex lives of the creators.

Never.

(9) You never worry when the hero is in a "death trap" because you know the company has to come out with another issue next month, and anyway you read spoilers about three issues beyond this one in WIZARD

Sure In the back of my mind I know the Superman will survive, but when I'm "in" the story nope.

(10) You just don't get it.

Oh I get it!!!! My wife just complains I'm spending too much to get it!

This is gonna get me broiled, and that's not my intention of asking. But the question nags at me, and I posit it with all due respect:

1) You complain about things that "wouldn't work", applying "real world" physics.

How is this different than saying Superman uses TK instead of super-strength to lift objects that should topple over?

Is it just me that thinks that Gail Simone probably would have looked quite the fox in her late teens and early twenties?
